I remember telling my parents, over a brunch after returning from Gulf I, how the mid-east treats water and that they live on desalinization... finally Carlsbad has started building a new plant.

Convinced one of my bro in laws to start prepping. He has always been skeptical about where this country is headed and has been concerned now that he has a little one on the way. He wants to go look at guns later on today.

Day before yesterday I got a Sawyer .1 micron water filter with the million gallon guarantee, finished my penny stove, waterproof matches, mess kit, and some other miscellaneous preps. A little more ammo, it was a good week for ammo. Even found Mini-Mags!

Yesterday I finally got what will be my main battle rifle and boyhood dream gun. M1 Garand.

And today I will picking up more ammo, and shooting to keep in practice. It was a good week for prepping.

Isn't the salt content of those things very high? I remember trying one a few years back and it was salty as heck. I think I drank almost a gallon of water from all that salt.

Pretty much the salt content on all canned foods is extremely high. Even looking at canned corn and green beans, the sodium is often 20-35% of your daily intake. Granted the cans are usually multiple servings but it's something to be aware of. Draining the cans first does help. Not too sure about canned beef products since I don't eat them but I'm sure they are the same if not more than their veggie counterparts.

I picked up a Primus back packing stove, and a couple fuel cartridges today.

I already have several stoves & lanterns that run on white gas, and a couple that use the green propane bottles. Now I can use the Isobutane-propane cartridges

I am going to look for a small pot that will hold the stove, and one fuel cartridge for my "OH Sh_t" kit (Camelbak hydro-pack based survival kit)

I have a cool medical bag I bought off ebay and filled it full of items my sister brought back from her work at an ER. Got most of everything in this sucker from jean scissors to smelling salts, band aids, wraps, ointments, cold pack, gloves. Trained in ARMY on most of it but still learning more so im not a toll if something goes down and I need it.

Prepped 200 pieces of new 9mm brass purchased from a fellow Calgunner a while back. Will be loading it tonight for SHTF use.

Had my little girl and nephew harvest the tomatoes and onions earlier.

Last week changed out my truck's battery and finally purchased a battery load tester.

I finded a beautiful "Anna" Apple and "Seedless Flame" Grape to start the backyard orchard.

I'm far too lazy to be starting this...

Today I took the Red Cross CPR/AED/First Aid for Lay Responders course to get my certification up to date.

I had done this back in high school but that was almost 20 years ago so it was time for a refresher.

Basically I wanted to get this b/c it's a prerequisite for the 18 hour Wilderness First Aid course (basically a 'where there is no doctor' course). I signed up for that one today. Taking it in 2 weeks.

Today, I discovered that you can't integrate a 30V solar panel into your ****ty 12V Harbor Freight array and expect it to work.

As a result, I also learned that while 45 watts is plenty for my limited desert applications, I'd like to have more just so I can see what other stupid things I can get running out there like a refrigerator and maybe even an air conditioner one day.

Oh, and on my way home from being disappointed at the solar store, I discovered that Turners had 3 pounds of IMR 3031 (they only have 1 pound now), so it wasn't a total let down.

Today I received in the mail some CPR masks I ordered from the Red Cross. Added them to all my first aid kits, GHB and CERT bags (they were only $2.50 each so I ordered quite a few).
Also got my Red Cross Wilderness and Remote First Aid book that goes along with the 2 day class I'm taking this weekend so starting to read through it.

Oh and I almost forgot, I started the P90X workout program a few days ago. lol

Anyone know how to get farm subsidies for my backyard garden? Its getting bad *****! Tomatoes, Cucumbers, Bell Peppers, and Squash. Yes, it is a prepper garden, but it also fits in with the classy Mediterranean vibe of my home and yard.

Not today, but over the weekend, taught 5 new Californians the basics of shooting. Took them out to the range, showed them a thing or two, and now they went from being gun scared liberals to genuinely interested in firearms and ardent supporters of our 2A rights. How is this prepping? The more people that have their eyes at least a little bit open, the less full on sheep there are around. Plus these folks will, hopefully soon, arm themselves, and be at least willing to help out in case of an emergency (and willing to learn more... because they admittedly, still have a long way to go)

Also I cleaned my guns.

Cranking up cardio exercise. Rode my mountain bike a couple of loops at turn bull canyon yesterday, played two three setter games of tennis today. Thinking of doing a fifty mile ride on my roadbike to seal beach tomorrow.
