Why pay $50-80 a brick + shipping for bulk ammo when you can get this for $55 a brick + shipping. Velocity around 1080 FPS, target grade ammo.

If you are desperate LG has Thunderbolt 500 packs at $89, that's 17.8 a round

They've added some Federal too, some of it at reasonable prices.

As for the Federal Match (711B I think) I would warn you that it doesn't shoot much better than your average bulk ammo. I bought a case from CMP a while back and it was a disappointment. Shot out of some very accurate rifles (CZ, Kimber, Savage) with the best 5 shot group @ 50 yards being just under an inch. I can do that with the American Eagle 38gr ammo.

Yeah, the "target" grade Federal is OK. I wouldn't buy it at that price by itself. With the cheaper Federal and the sunk cost of shipping that... if I was low on .22 I'd jump on getting 1K rounds at a decent price. As it is I was lucky enough to get a couple of cases of Aguila from the CMP recently so I passed.

When did you order your Aguila from CMP? I placed an order this past March and still waiting. Ordered the Standard Velocity version.

February, and it was the Golden Eagle. They've been getting some of both kinds in here and there - last batch of standard velocity arrived mid-April I think. They aren't expecting bulk shipments until October, this was just kind of a nice bonus.

That is over the line. I am okay paying $50 a brick for quality .22 lr ammo, but more than that is just vendors pushing it.

$50 per brick is a good price because it discourages scammers from buying to resell, so the ammo sells to real shooters.

Here's the direct link to that: http://www.midwayusa.com/product/318...10-boxes-of-50

It's probably a pretty good small game round, especially out of a suppressed rifle, but I'd probably go with a known quantity like Velocitor given an option.

Wow, the Fiocchi went fast. It was limit 2, $109.99 for 1575 rounds I think. Usual Grafs $7 flat rate shipping. I got distracted, decided to try it, hit add to cart and it was gone.

Honestly, I wish people would NOT think that $50/500 is a good price and just let it sit on the shelves until retailers realize that we want our $20/500 ammo back. But as long as people buy it, the retailers are going to keep the price high (which is fair). But at $50/500, that means flippers will keep snapping up the $30/500 deals and reselling for $40.

But hey, that's capitalism for you. You want it? Pay for it.

I think we all have our own pricepoints depending on how long we're willing to wait for a good deal. I would think that there aren't a huge number of speculators at this point - it's hard to justify a lot of trips to meet people or gunbroker commissions at current margins. I was happy to unload some odds and ends during the panic but I don't even follow gunbroker prices anymore.

The thing is some folks want to shoot and even though prices are out of whack sometimes there are few choices. I hate the gouging that's going on, although it seems to be tailing off, if you just gotta have the ammo then there's not a lot of choices right now. I was prepared for this but some were not and I feel for those who have to pay these outlandish prices. Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. Hopefully this shortage and gouging will end soon and we can all go back to a more normal ammo supply and price.

I really feel for the guys who are just starting. It's all well and good to say people should have stocked up but I've run into a couple of people who just bought their first .22 and they're hurting. Or they just started competing and their one year supply became a one month supply. Or I sold a case of .22 to a guy who was running some kind of boy scout event and he wanted to lock in the supply while it was still possible to get a whole case at once. He was smart to do it too - this was early on and the price went up another 50% at least before peak.

Whatever ammo you can get and a good price is better than what the gougers are charging. The choices aren't great so take what you can.

Unfortunately I got in right in the middle of this mess so whatever I find, I buy. So far, the online deals are better than what the LGS charges and its in stock.

I tried the non-subsonic version. Same price. It was between this or maybe buying another brick of the Aguilla SS, so I tried the 42 MAX. When I shoot it I will post.

I just received my two boxes of Winchester 555 and one 50 round box of Federal Gold Medal match from Cabela's... it takes a while to get here.

Since I use these for hunting, and I need to have lead free while in the condor zone, .16 per round is inconsequential. (I carry a single six while hunting pigs in case I find rabbits.)

Natchez is charging $16.74 for shipping to Sacramento for 1 box of .22lr, it says it is 0.3lbs. Now I know it isn't that expensive to ship that much weight

This is the last day for Free Shipping (no minimum order) from Sportsmansguide. Free Shipping CODE: "SH1736".

They do not have much rimfire, but lots of other stuff. There is some Eley Target ammo 5,000 rounds for $664, which is about .133 a round.

Also related items like these .22 reactive targets:

http://www.sportsmansguide.com/net/c...aspx?a=1332766

I picked up a few more boxes of the "Colt" Russian sourced 168 grain .308. They had it for $10 a box, but now it is $11 (I have my ammo can full, now I need a few to shoot). You can't search for these so check out the Shooting and Security Sale from the main page.

They have lots of .223 Match ammo and 7.62x39 right now.

I paid that price, for the same product, from a fellow calgunner when I had only two 50ct boxes of Thunderbolt sitting on my shelf. Desperate times called for desperate measures

Yeah... .126 per round shipped if I buy five boxes. $36 shipping. This Automatch will pop up on Midway and Cabela's soon enough.

I'll save for CCI MINIMAGS if they ever show up.

Half way reasonable deal, I'd buy 10 right now if my debit card was not maxed out!

Better than gun broker prices

Just checked Turners in Kearny Mesa.

No .22 ammo on the shelf.

Salesman said he haven't seen 22 ammo in the store in 4 weeks.
