That was an interesting assortment of weaponry they had there.

Looks like they did some inventive fabricating with their optic mounts.

I'll wager that the shooter with the Styer SSG was making the most hits.

Someone asked me what sniper rifle the Syrian Military was using when the conflict started. I told him it was a Steyr SSG 69. I'm guessing that SSG was either brought by a defector or picked off a dead sniper.

Saw this a few days ago. Great documentary. Some of the scope mounts looks to be welded to the receiver of the rifle or something.

These are the clowns we're sending weapons to? Has any country in history knowingly sent weapons directly to its enemies?

What a bunch of crud.

These guys are idiots. Standing in front of the window with the barrel sticking out and talking to a reporter?

God forbid they actually come across a real sharpshooter. They would be toast.

Not amateurs anymore. Many of them have killcounts under their belts.

Kills are kills? At the end of the day these guys still don't know cover from concealment, many elements of fieldcraft, or how to operate effectively. Yes kills are kills - but a killcount doesn't mean you're any less likely to get popped by someone who actually follows the methodology and training that creates an effective sharpshooter.

Without an effective training program they will still be amateurs unless they take it upon themselves to train themselves or learn from their mistakes.

the real test is them against fully trained snipers, USMC scout snipers, Army, SAS, Seal, etc.. there would probably be a lot less of them around to fight if there was a handful of well trained snipers.

You could say the same for a serial killer or some marauding band of bandits. Still doesn't make them soldiers or warriors, let alone effective snipers.

Against our army? While unmatched to ours, these snipers will be a major nuisance

These syrian snipers already know how to aim, control their breathing, and squeeze the trigger, and kill someone without thought.

They will dress up as civilians then simply shoot at our soldiers, one at a time, then run away, blending into the civilian crowd. Hit and run tactics. These fighters dont care about fighting fair, or geneva conventions. That's what makes them damn dangerous.

they will be sitting ducks to a USMC scout sniper team

they would set up early before dawn completely concealed from view

hours later these clowns would sit around talking and drinking their tea, then set up with their barrels sticking out of holes in the walls

the sniper team would have already mapped these holes and designated them for easily communicating of target position, and dope.

these guys would quickly learn the difference between professional snipers and murders killing unknown people from a distance.

in a week none of them would dare stick their rifle out of a hole

the murdering of innocent people and claiming them combatants would stop real quick
