Default .920 barrel weight

I am planning to update my old 10/22 and I have a question about barrel weight. I shot a 10/22 with a composite barrel and steel liner, I found it to be difficult to control while shooting off hand because it was too light, I wonder if the aluminum barrel with a steel liner would offer the best of both worlds
Thanks Bill

My aluminum 17in Whistle Pig barrel weighs 17 ounces. About 1 ounce per inch is what I was told by Louis at Whistle Pig. I've never handled a composite barrel so I can't tell you if it's heavier.

I dunno about a composite barrel, but I can tell you that my whistlepig is also way too light to shoot off hand. The slightest breeze makes the thing seem like a boat sail. While a much heavier barrel (fluted clark custom) didn't give me that trouble.

Well, I CAN tell my Volquartsen stainless barrel is too heavy for off-hand shooting making it mostly a rifle shot from the bench---make that a DAMN NICE rifle shot from the bench. Sent it back to Volquartsen to be fluted---looks really nice---still too heavy...
