Default Remington 1100 Question

I am interested in getting a Remington 1100 20 gauge.
From what I read, I should get the earlier version, the ones were the serial
ends in either "X" or "N", because this series of 20 gauge used the 12 gauge frame.

SO, the neato 12 gauge aftermarket stocks will fit the earlier versions.
I am still not clear about foregrip fit, however.

There doesn't appear to be much if any aftermarket stuff for the 20-LT and LW models, which use a smaller and incompatible frame.

When I look at the aftermarket stuff, all the sellers refer to the Remington 870. The 1100 whether older version or newer version is seldom mentioned.

Is the Remington 870 frame the same as the 1100 frame?

The way i understand it is the 11-87 uses the 870 as the baseline platform. Again this is only how i understand it but the 1100 uses a different cycling system. However it is still a gas gun so it cant be that much different

But i know for a fact 870 stocks wont work on an 1187 due to the action spring being positioned in the stock which i think is the same for the 1100

Butt stock fits, forearm has a gap on the sides of the barrel, and rocks side to side. 1100 and 870 butt stocks are the same on the outside and frame fit, but how they attach to the frame is vastly different. The 870 uses a screw, and the 1100 uses a nut and washer over the recoil spring tube. The inside of the stock is drilled different, and it's not really feasible to try and adapt one to the other.
The 1100 Standard Frame 20ga is an orphan when it comes to aftermarket parts. Extra barrels are hard to find, and expensive when you do. I have a full set of barrels for mine, plus a "lunchbox" Skeet barrel, and even as cheap as I got them, still three times+ more than the gun is worth.
