Default Bull Barrel and Handguard Combo

I have a bull barrel that is .935 under the gas block. I'm looking at a YHM rifle length forearm/handguard with a low profile YHM .936 gas block. Anyone have any issue getting this to work or any experience with bull barrel and handguards in general? Or can you recommend one that will not require gunsmithing?

Thanks

That gas block should fit under that rail without any problems.

Thanks. So will the barrel nut inside diameter fit over the bull barrel? I heard it sometimes does not, but I read that on a post from eight years ago.

I've got a Yankee Hill Diamond Series mid-length (9 1/4") hand guard covering a Double Star bull barrel that is 0.936" at the gas port. The guard fits over a M.I. lo-pro gas block with no interference at all. This guard completely covers the block on a carbine-length gas system.

Yankee Hill hand guards look like one of the best deals out there, dollar for dollar.

Have a DD 7.62 over a JP barrel kit in .936. The block is very close to the HG and the heat sink had to be cut down to fit the HG. Fun project.

Nobody said ANYTHING about the barrel diameter between the gas block seat and the barrel extension to this point.
There are different profiles of bull barrels.
Some are 0.980" under the handguards and others are 1.050" under the handguards.
Most barrel nuts are 1.000" inside diameter.
The 1.000" barrel nuts will NOT fit over the 1.050" diameter barrels.
I can open up any 1" ID barrel nut to 1.060" so that they DO fit over a 1.050" barrel.

Yea. I spoke with Midwest Industries and Yankee Hill Machine today. YHM said a bull barrel wouldn't fit with their stuff, unless you are getting the basic tube, which is pretty much useless IMHO. I find that hard to believe, must be warranty issue, because they know machining is inevitable. Then I emailed MI and they said yes it is a go. The barrel nut for the T-series single piece free float is 1.050. Combine that with the .936 low profile GB and you are spinning on with a grin. I will make sure to film myself during the handguard replacement.

Thanks Randall for your input. My hope is someone will be thinking about how to take their bulls and varmints to the next level in a free floating world.
