Default polished unfinished billet lower

Hey all,
For the memebers who have built an AR using a 80% billet lower (6061) and just left the finish bare bead plasted or polished..How is it holding up?

Glad you asked. I was wondering the same. Where we work I haven't seen aluminum rust. It gets pale or oxidized but not rust. When we leave it out in the rain it gets black and white spots.

I'm doing my lower on the cheap so I might leave it bare. After all there are tons of aluminum wheels rolling around right?

I'm an old biker dude. We tend to use more billet then chrome these days because you can polish out the bump and bruses. The anodized finish marks up so fast but its tough as hec. I kind of thought more guys went bare these days

I like to be able to clean and polish, so either way I can get what I want out of the finish.

How did you guys polish your lowers? You guys think a clear epoxy or urethane top coat would protect the polished finish?
