Default Why is Front Sight pushing sooo hard to upgrade members to Ambassador?

Something seems fishy. The price has dropped 50 fold since the Ambassador upgrade was first offered last year. Ignatius seems almost panicky. Even moreso than previous offers.

Is it just a way to collect another $99 from every member? I see no benefit over the Alaska Diamond. A free T-Shirt, cap, and pin don't seem to be worth $99. Sure you can supposedly go to any new Front Sight locations, but will that ever happen? And even if it does, why would I go further to Texas or Florida?

I was thinking the same thing, put it on another thread. Maybe just a new income source. Unfortunately I pulled the trigger too soon on this. What will be next? Emperor level? (Elite)....

$99???? I paid $300. Grrrrrrrrrrrr.

I was able to give my diamond-level to a friend of mine for Christmas so it was worth it.

From inside sources which are usually reliable:
  • There are as many as 3 additional FS locations slated to open over the next couple of years.
  • The current Nevada location has reached the point where no more growth is possible beyond a certain point. They've already had a few "narrow misses" in terms of not being able to accommodate the number of guaranteed training slots available ... pretty incredible volume if you think about it.
  • There is a lot of tension owing to the fact that there is barely bandwidth available to hold the "level one" classes. This is partly the reason why standards for taking the upper-level classes became more stringent.
  • It's imperative to relieve this stress point by getting people to these other locations as soon as they are open/available.
  • This is also the reason why Ambassador members can host classes at local ranges, etc.
  • Creating another membership level is just a way to generate revenue from this reality, while also offering something in return in the way of perks, etc.

Ha ha ha ha ha. Whatever happened to the houses that were to be built? Don't believe a word. Memberships used to be $10,000 in the early '90s. Now they're $99.

Article from earlier this year concerning Front Sight Houston, Texas:

http://www.yourhoustonnews.com/couri...365bf02a9.html

"By 2013, two very different forms of recreation – wakeboarding and target shooting – should be bringing tourists, jobs and revenue to East Montgomery County.
Officials with the East Montgomery County Improvement District announced Friday they have signed preliminary development agreements with Hydrous Wake Board Parks, of Dallas, and Front Sight Firearms Training Centers, of California and Nevada, to build new facilities in East Montgomery County."

They announced plans to build a hotel and condos in 2008. And in 2007 they announced they were gonna build houses. Take articles like that with a grain of salt.

I've been following the Front Sight saga since 2003 when I bought my first certificate. I too was turned off to Front Sight, reading and listening to all the negative comments from here and other forums. Naysayers would constantly speak of their imminent demise so I concentrated on taking local training, which is not bad in its own right. So I did not go to Front Sight for 11 years.

I understand Piazza has grandiose plans and some have not come into fruition. Remember though that in the last 12+ years, we have had a dot com bust, double (triple?) dip recession and the 2008 mortgage crisis among other troubles.

The fact that Front Sight has survived 16+ years, and is still going strong with increasing membership and attendance, shows that something is being done right. I did not attend my first Front Sight course till earlier this year. I have since taken my whole family there for training and will do so in the near future as it is cost effective, good training and fun!

It may not set well with some people, but for most of us who have been to Front Sight will attest, it has been well worth our time and yes, our money. I no longer pay much attention to the naysayers. I also do not have blinders on and will seek out and attend good local training.

But you wonder if any of the proposed construction will ever come to fruition!

I think a hotel would make sense. I don't think the master planned community with homes will fly in this economic climate. The housing market needs to recover substantially for that to happen.

I take everything Mr. Piazza has to say with a grain of salt. Been trying to get off his bulk email list for a while now after making the mistake of signing up. Several clicks on the "remove" option and a couple direct emails asking them to do so and still getting the constant email blasts. I have resigned myself to consigning Mr. Piazza to my SPAM folder

I don't get Mr. Pizza's emails anymore, but I'm getting really sick of the daily messages on the home land line.

They seem to be very big about aggressive advertising. Col. Cooper must be turning over in his grave right about now!

You're confusing Col Coopers Gunsite with Iggys Front Sight.

Jesse,
Actually Naish trained at Gunsight alot that's where he met and recuited Brad Ackman....so I agree Col.Cooper (RIP) is probably rolling over and over.
This is not really a new promotion....he's been doing this kind of marketing for 15years. Anyone annoyed by the bombardment of emails and phone calls can opt out easily. Check the bottom of the next email sent to you and follow the link.

I thought I did that, and it did stop the emails; however I still get all of the calls.

I should probably go to the website and find out how to stop those too.

A while back, I purchased a certificate for a four day course there. I have not redeemed it yet but am afraid when hearing this that this will be more of a "timeshare" presentation than an actual tactical course. Hmmmmmm........

Instead of just hanging up on the calls, if you listen to most or all of it, it tells you how to opt out. I think you press 4, but I can't remember.

I never opted out of either the email or phone as its been very, very beneficial for me....I don't want to miss anything...like upgrading to ambassador for $300, selling my current Diamond/Alaska membership for $500 and getting 5 Legacy and 10 Patriot memberships for free. (net $200 and 15 memberships to do with as I wish!)

Incidentally, I get a an email about every day (not like I don't already get a bunch of insurance, Viagra, and other spam anyway....I check it real quick to make sure there is nothing I'm not aware of, then delete it. Takes all of 10 seconds unless there is something new.

As far as the phone calls, they are rare...so maybe I'm on a different phone list or or people are complaining about an occasional call.

In any case, I have so gotten my money's worth since sinking several thousand into my first membership (before all of the promotions), that if the place closed tomorrow I would miss it, but wouldn't for a second think I got screwed.

What really cracks me up is, that even though a person can get a membership so cheap now, they would break even taking only one class.....ahead of the game taking thier second class....they still don't do it to see for themselves....they just talk crap about Piazza and Front Sight.

I think the marketing is over the top too...but we hear the same complants about the NRA. But the reality is that advertising is time consuming and costs money. If it didn't work, they wouldn't do it. And if it's working, then the place will be healthier with more members. I want the place healthy. So, I got no problem with their aggressive advertising. Whatever works.

Like what they say, If you dont want to join in its okay. If you dont want to get anymore emails you can request, BTW. The shirt hat and pin I think theyre worth the 99 bucks. Its like getting the membership for free really cause you still get the $100.00 for the Pro Shop purchase. I already used my money for the 2013 background check. Im satisfied.

Don't worry, no timeshare sales. Take your course. They talk about memberships during one of the lunches, if you don't want to hear it, eat in your car or on a range, you don't have to sit in on it.

Remember, anything you take during the day, you can take at the 4 July night shoot. My wife likes the weather then best!

My wife will be in the 4 day rifle in May, I will be in presicion rifle same time.

Went to the 4 day handgun course after buying a $250 diamond membership. I was skeptical of 'The sky is falling' marketing. Class was great, instructors professional and fellow shooters fantastic. I didn't hear any crazy marketing stuff during lunch. Everyday had a good lecture on weapon related topics. I enjoyed the training so much I bought an ambassador membership. Looking forward to the next 'Emperor or or 'Dictator' level membership. Overall, marketing is so-so but it works. $250 bucks for 4 days of training with great people like LCU... It's worth it. And I love the drive from sac through the desert!

I bought Diamond memberships for myself and a few friends from MP301. One of the guy I bought the membership for actually wanted to back out on me. The guy took a class with some others and decided to keep the membership. Now he talks up the FS classes and even bought an Ambassador membership. For the price of membership, the classes are more than worth it. Good people in the classes and great instructors.

I kinda thought that too when I went to my first course but I just made the decision to suck it up and go. It was the best four days I ever spent. Absolutely no high pressure sales to upgrade, time share, etc. During lunch and breaks they have a few vendors that want to sell you hearing protection or a gun safe but all you do is walk out.

Go and enjoy the training. In a couple of weeks, I'm headed back for my fifth course.

I've been taking classes at FS in Pahrump for over three years and have always enjoyed the experience and the people. I find their marketing to be very amateurish and a bit annoying, but all I have to do is delete a few emails each week. If anyone one is looking for a lifetime membership let me know . . .

Just got back yesterday from a 4-day DHG + 35 State CCW. Most of the push to buy memberships comes from the members themselves. Right now Front Sight just finished up a $25 2-day DHG, 2-day Practical Rifle or a 2-day Tactical Shotgun offer on Sunday. Today, just received an offer for these same classes at $50 per. Better deals keep coming every week.

I only purchase these types of deals and have had a couple guys offer a Diamond Membership at $250. So the deals keep coming from Front Sight. There were a couple members this last week that were really pissed off at the deal I got for these classes + all the training manuals.

Just be patient and don't listen to all the member hype about "you got to get it now before it goes up".

I received their emails for several years before finally attending a handgun class in February. I know his marketing is way over the top but the class was top notch. I went to the hand to hand and edged weapon defense class over the 4th of July week. They were also wonderful. I wish I could get everyone I know to go to those, even if they never want to touch a weapon, the hand to hand class was great.

If you need to, ignore the marketing... but take the classes... they are really worth your time!

I also went to a couple one day classes that were given by Dr. Piazzo. He talked about business marketing and tactics, that kind of thing. Laughed about his emails and stuff but pointed out the fact that, "it works".

I wondered about the emails before signing up, checked with some friends who are into shooting and got good reviews. When the price came down to something I could live with, I gave in and signed up. I haven't regretted it at all!
