I guess they wouldn't like my situational targets that use actual photographs of perps doing bad things.

Well if the range responds to whiny complaints then you know what to do!

Concord range has been saying that for years, It is a target, it should not matter. We have to always change things in life because of stupid people.

I know Angeles Range does not allow depictions of specific humans (like an OBL cartoon or similar) but human sillos are still good to go.

Caving into new homeland security mandate, trying to even up stats - civilians are more accurate than LEO when engaging perps in shootouts.

IPSC in Europe went to the turtle targets a few years ago, and banned the human torso targets.

Need some kitten and unicorn targets.

Seriously, should ask them when they started this crap, err I mean lost their nutsacks.

Training for self defense, maybe just maybe you will be shooting at a person, just a thought.

As per Biden self defense - means shooting your double barrel shotgun into your ceiling. No need for silhouette targets.

Two paper plates stapled to a piece of cardboard work just fine.
As do Shoot N Cs about 12 inches apart.

Some ranges with this similar “rule” allow you to turn them upside down.

I agree the over-PC thing irks me as well

That's crap, plain and simple. I use the perp and hostage target for all my long range rifle shooting, I'll be damned if anyone tries to tell me I can't. +1 for find a we range

The first time I went shooting at a range the guy behind the counter asked what kind of targets I wanted. I asked him which one he recommended. He answered "I've never heard of anyone being attacked by a circle."

A standard 8.5x11.5 sheet of paper is cheaper and more of a challenge. Try it at 50, 100, 200, 400, and finally 800 yards. Should keep you busy for a while.

a few ranges I have been to have the "picture" issue - silhouettes are ok.

One of the local indoor doesn't allow character/cartoon pictures either.

I asked about it, was told they want to encourage kids to shoot and don't want to discourage them by shooting their favorite cartoon character

This is silly, of course I want to train to shoot at human beings. That's why I own firearms. I thought we all agreed with this?

Purple Bastard...

Some years ago I was going out BLM shooting with a buddy, who's a little "quirky".

He shows up to pick me up and when I got in the truck he nods his head to the back seat.

Seatbelted in the backseat is about a 12" tall stuffed Barney with his wrists and mouth duct-taped!

He didn't come back from his car ride to the country.

I suspect you are embellishing your story.

Otherwise, you are the reason we get BLM lands closed.

I have had the samething happen to me when shooting at a Bay area range when I used to live up there 7 or 8 years ago. It was at Jackson, Chabot or Targetmasters. I don't remember which one anymore.

This has been the case for sometime at a few ranges.

It's especially problematic if you want to sight in an M4, the military "25 Meter Zeroing Target for M4 Carbine" has a human silhouette dead center.

I've modified it to just a non-offensive black box. DOWNLOAD IT HERE

Well, you've never met a turtle who's gone completely bonkers! They can be such sweet docile (and pretty slow moving) creatures. But, if you run into one that's had a tough childhood, swimming in the ocean for who knows how long and in what kind of waters, they can get a heck of an attitude and worse yet, a Turtle Temper! These turtles are the worst kind. They learn all the wrong things from the wrong turtles. They're evil I tell you!

Fixed it...
just wait.. will be illegal to sell.. in the name of public safety..
I am amazed that a gun range would cave to a complaint of that nature.. Why wouldn't they tell the person complaining to go elsewhere. They have a duty to allow real world shooting targets... train like it is real.

time to find a new range.

If it is, head out to SJRPR in Linden.

I've been to an indoor range in the LA area that had a no headshots rule but it was because people were hitting their hanger frames. They later changed the rule so that headshooting was allowed if you hang the target upside down. (come to think of it, this may have been applicable to shotguns only). Like many other ranges, they did not allow photographs or identifiable depictions of real people on targets but did sell a poster target of a masked terrorist holding a hooded hostage.
