Default Field Time Stanton Indoor Range experience

I shot at the Field Time Stanton indoor range yesterday for the first time. My overall impression was very positive; range was clean, well-lighted, and everything worked. The front staff and range master were cordial and businesslike. The range master in particular seemed to know just how much attention everyone needed, and no more. He spent most of his time, after giving everyone a safety rule briefing, with a couple of guys who needed basic instruction on their new ARs. Sounded like a practiced coach.

I was shooting guns that I was thoroughly familiar with and he let me alone once he could see I knew what I was doing. I wanted to retrieve my .32-20 rifle brass (trying to get a new scope zeroed to prepare for a trip to a proper rifle range) and that was OK with him, once he could see that I wasn't going to go out onto the range after a case.

Found their policy of requiring guns to be cased when going from firing point to back bench somewhat awkward, especially when you also had a bore flag showing. However, it's their range and their rules and anybody, even me, can adapt to stuff like that. "Too safe" just isn't a problem. "Too dead" is.

I think the bore flags are a VERY good idea--especially if they were busy and a lot of the shooters were shooting magazine fed semi autos. Makes it easy to see who is hot and who isn't. Apparently weekends can get VERY busy there; I'm retired and chose a Wednesday, but not everyone has the luxury.

An easy drive at 11am, their opening time, from my house in Seal Beach. I'm putting this place on my calendar for two days a month. (I go up to "A Place to Shoot" one day a month for rifles/shotguns).

Same impressions that I had. The wife and I went out there with the AR and 10/22 a couple do weeks ago. Very clean, very friendly.

Field Time is good to go. Friendly staff, wide stalls, programmable distances. Makes my life a lot easier. Plus being able to shoot my rifle indoors is a big plus

Awesome place. Been there several times, with same experience as OP.

Had a membership for years at On Target, but had a few negative experiences, including one with owner Gregg's idiot brother. I prefer Field Time now.

It's always good to hear positive things about a gun shop or range. There are too many bozos out there who are the reason people do not like firearms or the firearms crowd.

I've got a membership at Field Time and shoot there at least once a week. Your pistol must be in a case when transferring it from the bench to the lane. Rifles on the other hand must have a chamber flag and carried from the butt stock with the barrel pointing straight down. They suggest you take your case with you to the lane so you don't scratch your rifle. I don't mind a few scratches here and there. I like the "lived in" look. I agree with the OP. Most people I've dealt with are friendly and helpful. Very clean.
