Default Cancelling a DROS

I started a layaway (paid half upfront) and DROS on a Springfield 1911 Mil-Spec this past Friday. However, I am starting to get cold feet about completing it, especially after spying a good deal on a Sig 1911. I know I will get my deposit back, less whatever fees. Can I cancel the DROS on the Springer, then go ahead and start one for the Sig? Or will I have to wait?

Where did you buy it from? and heres my understanding; yes you can cancel the DROS, you just walk in and tell them that you want to cancel your DROS on the springfield and pick up the Sig, and they will handle it. Two things will happen: you will have to wait another 10 days from the start of the new DROS, and you might, MIGHT, have to deal with the 1-in-30 restriction

I DROS-ed the Springer at Triple A in Vallejo, but saw a Sig at another LGS.

The restocking fee is the one that will typically eat your wallet. But if you have cold feet regarding the 1911 now, I vote for going with what you want

DROS fee is $25. You might be thinking of a PPT fee which is $35.

As good as sigs are, springs are almost semi custom quality. I'd put those cold feet in a tub of hot water.

I wouldn't go THIS far, nothing about a Springfield milspec 1911 is truly custom, but I would still choose the Springfield over the sig any day

Try 30%, or maybe it is 25%. My LGS, Salinas Hunter Supply...
This is actually what they call a "restocking fee", not a cancellation fee.
I get a sick feeling in my stomach thinking about having to pay this on my last purchase($3000) if for whatever reason they turn me down.

California DROS fee is $25 period. The entire DROS fee will be forfeited and the OP will have to pay whatever restocking fee the shop wants.

What's wrong with buying both? You'll probably be better off financially buying the Springfield and reselling it than loosing the deposit.
