F the CA liberasts. Just go to Reno or Vegas and git them. Or order through Internet. Many retailers are clueless.

Brownells and a couple other online places I checked won't ship Tru-Oil to CA now. Looks like Amazon still does. Wonder for how long? Ridiculous.

What? No more of that vile, stinking, toxic waste goo jokingly referred to as "cold blue"? I guess Bubba will have to find some other nasty, disgusting, crap to smear all over the guns he azzes up or to lube his sister's backside with.

Go to ebay and search Birchwood Casey.
Seller "unitedoutdoors" has some and still ships to CA.
Found a couple still doing so but many already do not.

Whew! Thank goodness nanny California is protecting you! Think of the horror if you had been allowed the choice to use or not use the product on your own!!!

It's prop 65. And BC should just slap a sticker on it and be done. Many products come in to California with nothing more then a sticker to the label

My friend bought an AMFLO air coupler and the package has a sticker on it with the cancer warning. I think everything should have that label as pretty much everything out there could cause one kind of cancer or another.

If you go to the grocery store, you will find Calif Prop 65 warnings in the produce department. Because all those fresh vegetables and fruit in your diet will cause cancer. (I wonder when some tort lawyer is going to file a lawsuit against the USDA for promoting the consumption of cancer-causing products with their "Food Pyramid".) The legislators in Sacramento are still trying how to attach Prop 65 warning labels to sunshine and air.

This is the moronic state of a society doomed by idiot voters and the Leftists they empower.

In my experience finishing stocks I found this stuff superior to Tru-Oil:

http://www.brownells.com/gunsmith-to...-prod5531.aspx

I cut it 1:1 with mineral spirits for the sealing coats. After it drys, I rub it out with folded pads of 3-M Wet or Dry 320 grit sandpaper lubricated with the thinned mix. Then remove excess with a lint free rag, and set aside to dry. Repeat the process until all grain is filled. Then apply the uncut finish with a finger and rub with the grain until entire stock is evenly coated. Set aside to dry. Then rub the coat with folded pads of Wet or Dry 400 grit sandpaper lubricated with the thinned mixture, remove excess with a rag and allow to dry. Continue applying finish and rubbing until all smiles (shiny spots are gone), then repeat the process of rubbing on finish and cutting it back with 600 grit and the thinned mix. Rub with a rag on the final coat and allow to dry at least a week. Then you can either polish it with felt pads and rotten stone or commercial automotive rubbing compound. Producing a professional appearing finish on a walnut stock takes about a month.

Laminated wood stocks are much faster because the glue lines penetrate through the grain structure, so sealing and raising a finish requires much less work.

For those who want a classical oil finish, this stuff works well:

http://www.midwayusa.com/Product/717...il-2-oz-liquid

Use the same technique as above, but substitute 1:1 Marine Spar Varnish and Turpentine for the sealer coat and rub out abrasive cloth mixture. When dry, apply the oil finish and rub it in stretching it with your palm (wear Nitrile gloves in both techniques). Then lubricate the abrasive cloth with1:1 oil and Turpentine (use synthetic Turpentine will avoid the stock smelling like an artists studio). Linspeed Oil and Tru-Oil will both dry better if a drying box is used - any cabinet with a 60 Watt light bulb for a heat source will do.

Both these products should be available by Internet.

Stock should come out looking like these two:

Also, be aware that stockpiling any aerosol cans for long periods, especially if they have been partially used, will likely result in loosing the propellant gas. Also, if the jars of oil finish are opened, wipe off the jar and lid threads before tightening the lid, and store the remaining portion upside down or it will skim over on top and dry out.

Wow BC products cause cancer? I'm gonna have a cig now and think about if I really want to continue using their product.

I called turners few weeks ago, one of the employees said they have been sold for weeks and not sure why they haven't received anything yet. This explains it.

+1 for Amazon, ended up ordering online with no problems.

Yeah, and that's why you see all of those stupid prop 65 signs everywhere. Funny thing about them is that they're so damn common people don't even notice 'em anymore.
