Default Any Backlog in LTC Classes? - Stanislaus County

My LTC permit expires on 3/2014. From what I've read it only takes a week to process an LTC renewal in Stanislaus County. If this is true, then the only bottleneck to renew would potentially be getting into an LTC class.

My question is, for those in Stanislaus County, how long is the wait to get into a class? I've got 11 months until expiration, but want to make sure I make my appointment in a timely manner.

New restrictions by the sheriff as to where you can take your class might be making classes fill up sooner. You've got almost a year. Make a few phone calls and you should be able to get a class in plenty of time.

I would schedule your class now, but such that it is within 4 mos. of your expiration. SCSD now requires training to be within 6 mos. of your renewal approval. This will give you 2 months of overlap beyond when you'll have your rewewal appointment, just in case SCSD hits some delays.

At the above link see "CCW Policy Update 2013-02-27" regarding the 6 mos. and 35 mi. training policies.

Slight concern there may be a new Sheriff in town next year. Anyone know Tom Letras's position on CCWs?
