Default Jailed a Ruger 10/22 at Big 5

The world is coming back to normal. Guns coming into stores, starting to see some ammo.

Stock rifle that I just wanted. Third 22lr rifle, I got a disease. LOL.

How much is Big 5 asking for one? Was it available that day or did you have to wait for one?

Majtom94, were you there in Sunnyvale Big5, around lunch time? And as you finished DROS, some Chinese guy was standing behind you? If you were, then that was me, and I DROS'ed a 10/22 Takedown right after you.

Did you get a take down or a regular one?

It was more expensive than it should have been. When I went on the waiting list, they said $350, which is already gouged higher than pre-panic. Then when I went to pay for it, it was $390. Ugh, I got ripped off, BUT I was still willing to pay because I asked them to put me on the list, and they called me after months of waiting on Friday and held it for me. So I sort of felt I was obliged...and well, honestly, I just sort of wanted one.

Oh, I'm assuming OP was on the waiting list. I was there months ago and asked to be put on the list for a TD model, and also normal model, just in case. If I hadn't confirmed I wanted it, it would have gone to the next person on the waiting list. Having said that, there were like 14 people on the list ahead of me, so the 10/22's must have trickled in to satisfy those wait listers.

After being put on that wait list, I went to a Big5 in San Mateo to be put on their list, the manager said "There is no list and there are no 10/22s. We'll likely not see one for 2 years, they just aren't taking orders". Er, right...then why did Sunnyvale get some, and why is there one in jail for me now, a few months later?

I have a 795 (which are still on shelves, btw) which is awesome .... except it jams sometimes. So I wanted a TD for it's novelty and my lack of self control.

The Ruger was on the shelf since Friday is what I was told. I spotted it but had to double check with manager if I was really seeing a 10/22. Manager's remark that its the first one he has seen in six months and Ruger didn't even raise the price, $280. Could not get him to give me a discount...oh well

That baby has such nice furniture, I had to take it home.

As for Reminton 795, if you are having trouble with a jam, clean the mag really well or purchase new one at wallmart, cause those run like a clock; you should not be having a problem.

Sunnyvale Big 5 is where I bought...mgr told me he had sold a take down model also.

Better start looking for mags, they're a little scarce for 10/22 (the new California "assault weapon")

And just to give you a little lust:

The 10/22 is probably the most modded' rifle ever.

Ah, OK, it was you. I might have bought the regular one rather than the takedown had I come in that morning instead. Strange though, as I was on the waiting list for months and you managed to walk in and swoop one away!

I mean, I got my takedown as requested, but there were a lot of people on that list and the manager DID call me, so I had assumed she called a bunch of other folks too.

You got lucky!

My Marlin (not Remington) 795 has 6 magazines, two brand new. I'd get jams if I loaded only 2 rounds in a magazine (that was course of fire at an Appleseed clinic ... 2 and 8 round mags so you shoot 10 rounds with a reload in between. But I'd get one shot ... jam, then eject and swap mags...so I'd stick 9 in the 8 rounder. Odd that when loaded with more than 2-3 rounds, it jammed less, maybe the positioning of the rounds when loaded to more rounds and then fired??)

I went to my local big5 and the manager told me there was a waitlist of 30 ppl for the 10/22 TD model. She also told me they get about 2 in stock every month.

Not that it helps you (unless you travel so SoCal) but I've seen TD's in a few Big 5's in Orange and San Diego Counties. Maybe ask for an in store transfer?

I think the TD is more novelty than anything. OK, so it packs away nice for hiking if you are hiking somewhere that you can shoot it. But other than living in a bug out bag, I think it's not as useful as a normal 10/22. Still, I paid slightly gougy prices to get one.

I'll just have to wait a year to get extra mags for it!

I think I'll leave it with iron sights.

I bought my first 10/22 at the end of January and went to shopruger.com to place an order for 5 mags. I check my order about every other day for the status and it reads "in progress". It will be 3 full months on the 5th of May. I did place an order on hawktecharm.com and received a few and at a cheaper price than my order on the ruger website.

Congrats on the recent purchase. Ruger 10-22 rifles are a ton of fun. I am working on building a bull barrel, highly accurate 10-22 for cheap target practice. When using my buddies, I could pick off a egg at 100 yrds with his.

Default 10-22

Congrats!! my 4 year old daughter just started shooting (with lots of help) so dad bought her a 10-22 just the other day. Ammo Bros had them for $219, which is a fair price.

Of course she now wants a pink stock....

I guess the 10/22 TD is much easier to find in SoCal. I've seen several, and bought one at Torrance Turners for a sale price of $329.

Now if only .22LR ammo was more available. Which won't matter if the 10/22 is reclassified as an AW in 2014. Can't shoot it now, won't be able to shoot it later. Sigh. Hopefully at the least, mag lock devices won't be outlawed so I can at least shoot my 10/22 at local ranges. Fast mag changes are not a high priority with me with a 10/22.

All you guys are killing me - I got to wait another nine days.

I bought this to leave it the way it comes as I have a tactical 22 from Mossy and a fake mp 5 that spends time getting rebuilt at ati.

Love shooting 22LR.

Congrats! I spotted one at the Milpitas Big 5 about a week ago and thought it was neat they had one, but I didn't know it was actually a rare spotting. It's probably long gone now. I'm in the market for one, but not at $280.

10/22s have been regularly available in Southern California this year, even during the craziness. Last week my LGS had Takedowns and the wood/blued stock variant.

Yeah yeah, stop reminding me I overpaid for mine! Normally, once I buy something, I never check the price of it.

I'll get the regular Ruger at some point when prices/availability calm down. I didn't NEED the ruger.

But I wanted 2 .22's, since I have two kids who will eventually learn to shoot. I was considering another Marlin 795, since I have one and 6 mags (Why waste mags?).

My buddy bought a TD off gunbroker and then paid transfer fees. You don't even want to know for how much! He found Ruger mags locally, so he has 3 mags for it.

What's the pre-panic ruger magazine price, so I know if I'm being gouged?

My Marlkin 795 mags were about $17, I'm sure CTD used to sell them at $11, but I'm never shopping there.

I think my friend paid like $23 for the 10 round Ruger mags.

I've bought my magazines from hawktecharms for 15.95 for the black. The shopruger.com website sells the same ones for 19.99 and they haven't had them in stock for almost 3 months. chech hawtecharms every few days at different times and they generally will come up. (i've ordered twice and they ship quickly)

I guess it is just me, but I dont quite get the whole takedown thing. It just seems to me that you still have a heavy 10/22 in a slightly smaller package. Now if Tactical Solutions made a takedown x-ring barrel and hogue made an OM stock in takedown form, I'd be all over it. My little backpack gun is a standard 10/22 in an overmold stock, and a tacsol x-ring barrel, and a bunck of VQ parts... even with this massize scope it is barely under 5lbs and i don't notice it strapped to my pack.

Welp, completely contradictory to my previous post, but after doing the math for a $220 10/22 from impactguns plus FFL and shipping fees, it was no better than getting the 10/22 for $280 at Big 5. Which is exactly what I just did. The one in Milpitas had two come in last Friday and I grabbed one. Lead Waster, you shoulda called around!

ACK!! I paid $297 for my 10/22 TD at Bass Pro Shops pre-panic.

Turner's has had the 10/22's pretty regularly at $219 on sale

I jailed a 10/22 Takedown Tactical tonight at Turners in Signal Hill for $359. Put a deposit down a week ago and a couple of them came in today.

Congrats.

I had my name on a list for a 10/22 takedown. I received a call on Tuesday that they had received one and my name was on top. Then the real shocker was the price. The store manager told me it was $389 and that they would not price Turner's price of $339. I told hi, to call the next person on the list as I am going to save $50 by purchasing one at Turners. I have a real good memory when it comes to stuff like this. Big 5 seriously lost a customer on this one.

Yeah, I know. I was quoted $350 when my name went on the list ,then it got jacked to $389. Honestly, I'm not sure why I bought it. But I did and now it's waiting pickup. Another Marlin would have been cheaper and made more sense (sort of). I had wanted a 10/22 to customize, etc ... but can't really do that with the T/D. And again, in retrospect, the T/D doesn't actually really make sense other than as a novelty...which apparently I couldn't resist. I'm guessing it'll live in my safe in one piece anyway, and taking it to the range, I'd probably just toss it in a rifle case. But I suppose it could fit in my Midway range bag.

Probably not my smartest purchase, but it was one of those impulse things.

ie; stop telling me that you bought it for $100 cheaper!!

Also, I'm actually inclined to buy the normal 10/22 later when the price/availability is better.

Turners ad has the 10/22 on sale for 219.00 starting tomorrow. I'm going to kick myself if I buy one and kick myself if I don't. They have the SS take down for 329.00...

I think I'll take the day off tomorrow..

I've been trying to get a 10/22 takedown for a little bit and have had no luck. Every big 5 I go into says they aren't taking names/haven't had one in months. Local gun stores are the same, haven't seen a shipment in months. If anyone near WC knows where I can get one I'd be interested to know!
