Default CCW in Stan County timeline so far

4/3 Interview with investigator
4/6 Complete CCW training

Anybody know how I long I can expect to wait for a thumbs up or thumbs down from the Sheriff?

Not too bad.

The worst part is waiting for an appointment. I was fortunate enough to call in and find an appointment a week out. That is a rare occurrence. If you try to set an appointment right now, you'll have to schedule out 18 months.

As far as the actual process, it's pretty easy. Fill out your application. Take it to them on the day of your appointment. They take fingerprints and mug shots.

Then you wait for an investigator to call you. Mine called me 8 weeks after my appointment.

Then, you can either wait for approval to schedule a certification class or schedule one. I went ahead and took it before getting approval and took the certificate down to them on Monday.

Now I'm just waiting for the Sheriff to approve and be notified of same.

I'm going bonkers waiting for the call!

I'd really like to order a holster for concealment and gun belt, but I don't want to spend another $100 (on top of the nearly $400 I've already spent) in the event I don't get approved.

There's nothing in my background that would prevent me, but--call me paranoid--you just never know what the Sheriff will do.

No. Not a word. Better than 3 weeks since my interview with an investigator.

I went ahead and bought a Foxx Hybrid holster. I'll wait on a belt.

Ok, Forgot when I secured the appointment, last year sometime. Got one lucky call to move it up to ... Today. Happy about that. Going to get the application turned in, get the LiveScan done, and pay my money. Back to waiting...

Nice!

From this point, it's probably a 12 week wait until you get your LTC.

I am currently at 11 weeks.

I've been on pins and needles! Next Wed will be 4 weeks from my interview.

My Foxx holster was supposed to be here today, but the USPS seems to have lost it somewhere between San Jose and Modesto.

Hopefully it will be here tomorrow.

Keep checking the web site, if a cancellation occurs you can get in much earlier.

My Foxx holster didn't come again today. USPS still says the last step was that it left San Jose on 4/25.

Getting a little nervous.

Update: For some reason, the USPS sent my holster 160 miles out of the way up to Sacramento. Hopefully they will manage to get it here on Monday.

My Crossbreed holster came...looks great! Now just waiting on the call. This think fits my M&P 9c like a glove, and very comfortable.

Hybrid came yesterday. The leather is way too stiff for my small frame. Couldn't get it to sit flush against my skin no matter how tight I pulled my belt.

Returning for a Foxx Trapp.

Still waiting. 12 weeks and a day since turning my app in.

Default The loooooooong wait

After much delay, I finally registered for an appointment Feb, 2013. My appointment is scheduled for June, 2014. Very long time to wait.

However, the SCSD appointment site says it offline until July, 2013. I'm hoping they re-vamp things and find a way to speed things up and/or fill in no-shows faster with those still interest.

Who knows, I may be moving to Sacramento in the next year for another employment opportunity. I hear things have opened up there, which is a very positive news.

Just had my phone interview with deputy, Said my work has strict policy on concealed carry, that doesn't affect me, but most likely will be put on the LTC. So, he said it will be forwarded to the Sheriff for consideration. Now, back to the wait.

Right now I'm at 84 days since my appointment (March 13th) and 29 days since I was called by the Stanislaus County deputy. I know that they have 90 days from the appointment to approve or deny me but what happens if they don't meet the deadline?

Sadly, I'm going to be in NJ that week for work. Otherwise I'd buy a couple tickets.

Congrats!

I posted on two other threads, but my original appointment that I booked in Feb, 2013, was for June, 2014. Last week they called and wanted to know if I wanted to move it up to Feb, 2014. A-yup, sure do! So there it is, an appointment only 1 year after I tried to schedule my appointment - better than 16 months!
