I decided to hold on to the cash and save up some more for my next project - a semi-custom 1911. Maybe a Nighthawk Custom, a Wilson Combat or an Ed Brown... I know, big gap between $600 and $3,000 + tax, etc. But it's a start!
If another person comes up on an unexpected $600 people are going to start thinking there is something to this thread. LOL.

I'm in a similar position, trying to decide what my next purchase will be. My opinion is that in the current position we are in, not buying either mags and ammo, or a long gun is a waste.

Reason being, if you've got irons on a gun ,you can shoot it. No need for a fancy optic. This is assuming you have ammo to feed it,
In 2014, handguns will still be registered the same, so why spend that money on a handgun when you can buy a long gun(or stripped lowers) now, and not have it registered.

For me, I want to get myself a wheel gun, but a bolt action rifle is probably whats coming next before 2014, maybe a new .22 also if funds allow. I may not even be getting an optic for the rifle for a while, but would rather have it unregistered.

The actual value of above $.02 is less than $.01 after taxes.

Surplus 7.62x54r ammo.

I can resell it down the road for more than I paid, or else I'll have shot it by then (and had a blast doing so).

I might also get a scope or else a red dot sight or something for an AR-15. Or perhaps some other accessories.
