Default Ccw 16 hr class

I just finished my 16 hour class from jim gritz and i gotta say it was a good class. I went to universal security academy. Good guy, good instructor and really affordable. Today we hit the range and i scored 215 out of 250. Minimum to pass was 200 pts. Wasnt too happy about the score but at least o passed. Final appointment next.

I just did my class as well. It was so relaxed that the instructor gave out single commands and we all followed directions and by the end no one noticed he was really keeping track, but no stress at all. Basically we did several different courses of fire from 3,5 and 7 yards and a few from fight in front of the target, shooting from the hip as if the assailant was a foot away. Also loved getting to yell, "drop the gun!" He added several amusing but valuable commands. Instead of yelling "gun" or "knife" he yelled, "wino" or "transient" just to get you thinking before firing. Even brought out his LEO training course cover structures and let those of us who wanted to shoot from behind the "curb", "wall" and some amazing looking contraption that represented shooting through, mail slots, under a car, etc. Great fun!

You didn't do strong hand + weak hand shots?

Which targets were you using?

Jim is indeed a fascinating instructor. What a trip... I did some training (CQC and some other stuff) with Jim 19 or 20 years ago. I read this thread and wondered to myself if this could be the same guy... a few minutes on Google confirmed that indeed it is.

I'll have to arrange to have a chat with him - and perhaps even take a class from him.

Too funny.
