Default Benelli SuperNova Reducing LoP

Hey all,

So I picked up my SuperNova yesterday and it's pretty awesome. Handled it for a while and found I'd be more comfortable if I were a few inches closer to the trigger. What would my options be? I saw a few guys who cut their stock down and used a grind to fit pad.

This is my first shotgun and I bought it mainly for trap and reducing the LoP would make me a lot more comfortable with it. I was thinking about 2" (I'm a small dude).

Would cutting the stock be the easiest way? If so, what would be the best tool to cut the stock smooth and even. Anything I'd have to look out for (angle, etc...)?

Thanks in advance!

There's not much out there, but Mesa makes one with a shorter LOP...

Then, there is this, IF you can find it anywhere...

Why 2"....that is a lot Your looking at to get a LOP of about 12 3/8"

If your about 5' 2" tall then it makes sense.

Cuting the a stock changes a lot of other diamentions....DAH, DAC and Pitch ...all are important if you want to break a little disk at 40 yards.

I am indeed 5'2" (I told you I was a small dude) so I think I'd need about 1.5 - 2" from what I can gather.

I'm a lot more comfortable when I pull the stock recoil pad off, which gives me about an inch, so I think 1.5"- 2" would be my sweet spot.

thanks!

How about the Factory C-stock?

Its not for everyone and it makes the gun into a 1k shotgun, but I like having the shortest lop as possible.

Not mine but a stock pic.

Yea, that does look pretty hot. I'm trying to stay away from pistol grip/tactical 'cause I wanna use it mainly for trap, eventually I'll get an over/under and convert the Supernova to a tactical for HD.

Fair enough. First you have to determine if the stock is cuttable. Is it the same 2" in as it is at the end of the butt so the butt pad cac be reattached. A chop saw with a finish blade is your best bet at getting a good even cut....take the time to set up the stock so its an even cut top to bottom and front to back.

Do a complete dry install run before you start...then do it again to make sure

Have fun at the range.

Awesome, thanks! I'll post back with how it goes.

I believe the stock gets wider at two inches. I saw some people using a limb saver grind to fit with a wood insert. I may have to go that route.

Now that I'm thinking about it, I can probably take off 1" and replace my recoil pad with a lower profile one and save about .5-1" that way... I'll have to play with it.

Thanks for all the replies!

Update us as to what you decide to do/go with. We have a supernova that I'd like to do the same thing to for my gf to make it easier for her to shoot since it is her gun.

For defensive shotgunning you square with the target, so a shorter stock is much more comfortable.
