Default Son of a B! Tula Small Rifle Primers

Okay so the other day MidwayUSA has Tula Small rifle primers in stock and I bought 5,000 of the "TulAmmo Small Rifle 223 Remington Primers" because I read they are actually Magnum primers and work with ball powder. So I get my packages today and open the box only to find I received "TulAmmo KVB-5,556M Small Rifle Magnum" primers. Now, I did some research on tula/wolf primers long before I bought these and kept reading that the 223 primers were the real magnum primers and that the regular magnum primers were actually standard primers with harder cup. People were saying the Magnum primers had trouble with H335 powder and recommended to use 223 primers. But that's not what midway USA sent me . So I go and checkout Tula primers on midway, to compare the price difference between KVB-5,56M and KVB-223M and it was only a a couple of bucks. After reading more about them, now I'm reading on forums that people are saying the opposite of what I originally read. This is really annoying. So I'm thinking about calling midway usa and asking them what gives, but now that I checked their stock of tula primers, the Tula Small Rifle Magnum isnt even listed anymore. Only standard and "223" It was there couple of minutes ago, so I'm assuming they are already getting calls.

Soooooo, has anyone used these KVB-5,56M primers with ball powder??? like H335 or BLC2?

I have some TAC on back order, so if problem arise, at least I can use that powder, whenever it comes in. I also have CCI 450 back ordered for awhile now, So I'm not feeling to bad about this. I just contacted MidwayUSA and they refunded me the shipping and haz mat, So in a way I kind of win.

You should just try them, I haven't had any problem with wolf small rifle magnums (I think they are identical) with W748 and Blc2.

I've loaded several hundred with wc844(h335) and 62gr fmjbt. No issues at all.

Here is a copy/paste from the usrifleteams.com forums which helps explain the identity of each Tula (or Wolf) small rifle primer:

KVB223 is a small rifle 'standard charge' primer. Might be prone to failure in high-pressure cartridges. I've seen blanking in service rifle 223's & 308 loads for Palma in Lapua's Palma (sr primer) brass.

KVB223REM is the same primer charge BUT IN A MAGNUM CUP. These I use with excellent results for my Palma & 6HAGAR spacegun (Hornady brass) loads.

KVB556M is a magnum small rifle primer in both charge and cup thickness.

I think you will be fine with the KVB556M primers. Best to stay away from the straight KVB223.

Where are you located? I have KVB-223 and would trade you 1k straight across just to have some to test.

I've used those primers with TAC. They go bang every time.

A lot of 600/1000 yard benchrest shooters are using the Wolf Magnums and consider them as good as the CCI 450 Magnums.
The regular primers have softer cups and won't take much pressure.
