$299: Not a bad price given what you get in one, ready-to-go package.

$299 is a very good price for that;

Tech Sights = $70
Appleseed weekend = $80
Sling = $10
That's already $160, which drops the Marlin 795 price to $140.

i saw them at Big5 for $199 (on sale at $189, but not on sale anymore).

I've been considering an extra 795 because I have techsights that I replaced with a scope and heck, why not have two, one with irons and one with a scope?

Hello, new here, and not from Cali, but it appears to me that Cali folks happen to have taken quite a liking to this fine little rifle. So here is mine, Started off with a stock 795, I added dovetail to Picatinny adapter, UTG Delux BiPod, Mossy Oak Muscadine sling, Sniper 4x32 Compact scope, and a Mossy Oak Graphics kit in Brush Camo. My wife has the exact same setup only she's doing hers in Duck Blind as that's her favorite pattern. (My sling is on upside down because I prefer to trek muzzle down.)

My wife working on hers. (forming a cheek riser on it. Smart girl )

Very cool rifles!
Thanks for posting the photos.
The graphics kits look very professional.

What did she make the riser out of? Kind of looks like pipe insulation but looks thick.
Some people make improvised risers out of those foam pool "noodles"

Yep, it's pipe insulation. Once she got tired of working on it, she ripped it off and said "After thinking about it a while, I like your adjustable riser idea better." Lol.

The Mossy Oak graphics kits are awesome, we don't buy the gun kit, we get the 6"x10' tapes for the same price, it's the same thing as the gun kits, but not pre-cut, and you end up with enough to do more than one gun. With my first roll I got a Marlin 336 .35rem, a Colt 1911, a had enough left over to do the barrell and upper, the scope, one side of the stock and the bipod legs for this rifle. For the other half of the stock I had already ordered another roll, so I easily have enough left over from the second roll to do a full sized Mossberg 500 12g.

I use a stock pack from here:
https://www.gijoesmilitarysurplus.co...ducts_id=12341

Cheap knockoff but it works and is well made. Comes in a couple differnt colors...
I bet you could cut a section of pool noodles and put it under the stock pack, the adjustable straps should be long enough to allow it.
But it looks like she needs a pretty high pad.

Ever think about not using the rail adapter?
That would lower the scope and probably make things more in-line...
The UTG integral scope rings work really good..

Not the LTR, but regular ones are available at Big 5 for 199, check their website for availability and then call to make sure.

Switched to my new Boydstock Nutmeg Varmit Thumb-hole. Amazingly easy. Literally took me longer to find the hex key than to do the switch.

Looks great!

Glad Boyds finally came around and make a drop in stock for the 795.
The in-letting wasn't too hard to do on the earlier ones but still I'm sure it kept a lot of people from buying them.

Default barrel lead fouled

Hi everyone! Has anyone else had problems with the 795 barrel getting so lead fouled about 1.5 inches up from throat that you could not put a bore snake or otis cable down barrel? I shot 400 rounds of a different ammo. (Winchester bulk, Remington golden bullet, and CCI mini mags. I clean rifle after each range day but sometimes a couple days after. What caused the leading since all ammo is plated? Here is a picture of what came out. It's just over half inch long and came out in one piece. Thanks!

IMO plated bullets offer less protection then the often miss-called "bare lead" wax coated bullets.

The plating or wash is very thin and IMO mostly for looks. Where wax, talo coated bullets offer a thicker layer of protection.

I have never had this issue myself, all I run is CCI Blazer 525 Value paks.

I do remember someone else posting a photo like this is the 1st 795 thread. Might want to go thru it and look (lots of pages to sort thru)

I would would check the barrel for bulges on the outside.
It's possible that you had a squib and then dislodged it with the next bullet but in doing so bulged the barrel, giving the lead a place to attach.

Hey everybody, I just jailed a 795 and have a few questions. First off, do overall length laws apply to rimfires: such as can I use a folding stock without having to extend the barrel? Second, is there any source for parts kits for the new pro-mag 25 rounders? Third, how difficult is it to modify a 10/22 stock to fit a 795?

1 Federal Length Limits apply as they are the same as CA for non-AW's 16 inch barrel 26 inch overall all. Where this changes is CA measures from the most compact fireable configuration.
2 Not that I know of.
3 Not easy but I have heard it was done, but no tips given on how to do so.

Boyds makes drop in stocks now...

Default Shoot everything

My 795 was picky about ammo (didn’t like Blazer or Winchester White Box at all) the Federal was the rifles preferred ammo. So I set out on a mission to get the rifle to shoot everything…..I tried a lot of stuff like extractors, ejectors, and springs and on and on.

Then my neighbor came home w/ a 795 that shoots Blazer happily and finally I had something to compare to. One day at the range I noticed that my gun wasn’t chambering rounds well, so I stripped it down and scrubbed the chamber clean clean clean. Then with the muzzle down I proceeded to drop a round at a time into the chamber and one out of about every 15 didn’t chamber completely. Dropped the problem rounds into my friends chamber and they all went in completely.

I started looking around at the cost of chamber hones and they cost as much as I paid for the gun. A gunsmith gave me a tip:
Grab a spent cartridge and JB weld it to the end of a welding rod…..put an abrasive compound (I had valve lapping compound) but even whitening toothpaste would do. And spin it in the chamber from the muzzle end with a drill motor. I taped the rod w/ electrical tape to protect to rifling.

Grind clean check, grind clean check, grind clean check…..when the problem rounds drop into the chamber take it to the range and prove it up. I’m happy to announce that my little 795 now shoots EVERYTHING (even loves the Fed and the WWB) without a failure to extract or eject….just clean fun shooting.

Those of you with constant ejection problems check your chamber….it isn’t addressed here much but it worked wonders for me.

My 795 is of the MM series.

Good luck all,

I have a gub.

Took my pair of new(ish) 795's out to an Appleseed today with my son. My rifle performed flawlessly with Federal bulk but his had lots of feeding issues. I suspect user error in part but I'll do a real good cleaning tonight and hopefully get better performance tomorrow. I like these little rifles, but they are *little* - I'm 6' and had a hard time getting into some of the positions comfortably.

Now on to the real question: I only have one mag per rifle and I REALLY need two more to shoot the AQT properly. Does anybody know where I can get two TONIGHT? I am in OC but can travel some if necessary. I've been checking retail stores for weeks.

Thanks for the tip! I have two 795's that I use for Appleseed and this weekend was their first real test. One of them worked fine with Federal bulk but did have a few first-round feeding problems on the second day. The other had fairly consistent ejection problems - the spent brass would spin around inside the rifle after being extracted and would be smashed against the back of the chamber by the bolt going forward. Sometimes it was 180 degrees by the time the bolt came to rest. I saw another 795 owner on another forum that had the same issue. Does this match the problem you had that was fixed by boring out the chamber slightly?

It was my intention to help somebody.

Break it down and drop rounds in the chamber....if they don't drop in completely then your (cleaned) chamber may be tight. A tight chamber restricts extraction and causes ejection issues of an already hot (expanded) casing.

It really is an easy fix and not that scary as it sounds....it costs little more than your time.

Just imagine a casing w/ about 2/3 fill of JB weld....a taped rod dropped down the bore with a little roughing on the tip to be inserted into the casing. Push the casing up into the rod and the (clean) casing pushed up into the chamber. Have a few pieces of tape handy to insure that the casing stays in place while the JB set up. Find the abrasive of your choice (Comet cleanser, rubbing compound, toothpaste, semichrome polish, use your imagination) The next day grind, clean, check, grind, clean, check, grind, clean, check until you feel that the rounds drop in unobstructed.

A few of mine didn't drop in that last 1/16 of an inch....the bullet is wider than the casing....and you've only honed the depth of the casing....no worries the bullet will be gone at the time of extraction.

I went shooting today and had A LOT of fun....my old favorite the Federal bulk fell significantly in comparison to the Blazer that my gun hated in the past.

If you have a tight chamber and are intimidated by the procedure....drive to Idyllwild....I'll walk you through it.

Luck to all,

Gub.

Steadyrock,

The more I think of this the answer is there right in front of you...you have two rifles....one good, one not so....you have chambers to compare against each other....swap bolts and you have extractors to compare....swap ejectors and that issue is compared. Polish the feed ramp in the offender and that problem will likely be resolved.

You're lucky to have two....the better one will likely rat out the problems w/ the lesser.

Gub.

just jailed mine

For the newer design, how would I attach a bipod? could I just buy a generic rail, drill through the stock and mount it that way?

Default Out of jail!! first impressions and more questions

As the title implies, the 795 is now safe at home. I agree with the general consensus that the molded sling loops are junk. Also the factory rear sight notch is super narrow. Which leads me to one more question: Is the williams front sight tall enough to work with the tech sight?
