My son said he wants to join the NRA. Best thing I ever heard him say. I almost teared up. The thing is he's only 7 1/2 months old. LOL is there a age limit to join?

Oh, and in case anyone was wondering, here are the prices:

Life: $300

Life -> Endowment: $250 (on nra-2013.org)
Endowment -> Patron: $300 (on nra-2013.org)
Patron -> Benefactor: $350 (on nra-2013.org)

I highly recommend that members here with large #'s of guns consider getting this.

http://www.locktonrisk.com/nrains/armscareplus.htm

You get 2500$ in free coverage with the NRA lifetime membership (renews annually for free)

You can add additional coverage at a rate of 1.25$ per 100$; do the math, an additional 20,000$ coverage is only 250$/year... worth it if you ask me.

Most homeowners policies limit firearms theft reimbursement to 1000-2500$; check your policy. Personally I don't want my insurance to know all of my business, so I do not want a rider for more coverage, I rather get it seperately.

This thread made me finally add to my existing free NRA coverage and homeowners insurance coverage... now come what may, if someone steals my stuff I'm covered.

Have people been receiving their membership info/packet? I joined as a life member on 1/30/13, got my voting forms, but haven't received anything else (no membership number, insurance info, nothing). I've tried calling, but after 45 minutes and 5 transfers, I have yet to speak to a live person.

rabidmonk,
They are super busy with all the new members. Just remain patient, you will get your packet. They obviously have you registered as a life member, since you got the voting form, and it probably shows on NRA membership services if you check.

But you have to remember, this is a good thing! our packets are delayed because there have been so many people signing up to be life members. The longer I have to wait for my Lifetime membership packets, the bigger my warm and fuzzy feeling gets.

On a related note, on 2/27 I signed up 3 people for annual memberships and it seems 2 of them have received their membership packets (minus the hats, that I'm sure are delayed). So it seems it's taking a good bit longer to get the Lifetime member packets out than the annual ones.

On a slightly less related note, I got my SAF package today, I joined 3/22. They send you a pretty big plaque for life member lol, along with stickers, pin, and some other goodies. You should all consider joining as well (if you haven't already), and for $15 for annual ($150 for life) it's definitely worth it

http://saf.org/default.asp?p=safdonation
$15 Annual
$50 5-Year
$150 Life (Defenders Club)
$1000 Patron (Committee of One Thousand)

PS. Oh, and in case you haven't heard, Calguns Foundation has a "Membership" now, $15 a year. So make sure you check that out.

I think I will a SAF Lifetime next. I have to shoehorn CPRA Lifetime (disabled vet) and a CGN Lifetime in there somewhere.

+1!

I did SAF Life also. SAF does some great work, including their recent victory in the 7th U.S. Cir. Ct. (Moore v. Madigan) which found the Illinois ban on any form of carry unconstitutional.

Don't forget about CGF! (and don't forget that CGN and CGF are two separate things.)

Today I signed up for CGF annual membership and up'ed my NRA membership to benefactor. I think DU is next

my boy and I are both lifers now.
Do you have to call the NRA to get the deal? I want to buy my two boys a membership. Both are under 18.

I'd buy a membership for myself, but I'm not sure if I have 10 years left in me. The wife says if I piss her off one more time I'm done for...

Like Killer Bee pointed out the $300 for lifetime deal online (through the link on Page 1) is for adults. Under 18 membership online is still $550, But if you call the NRA, like Mr. Bee did, and ask it looks like they will extend the $300 deal to Jr. Memberships. (the NRA is usually good about those types of things)

Also, in the UK and becoming NRA members? I applaud you good sir.

I just jumped on the bandwagon myself and ponied up for a lifetime membership. Got a duffle and flashlight too. But I suspect it will be a month before the welcome packet. Hope I'm home when it comes. That would be nice.

Longer.

I'm not concerned, I called and got my number. I've got online access & set up the insurance. They also mailed my ballot a week or two ago & I get the digital edition Rifelman.

I anxiously check the mail a few times a week, but it'll come when it comes.

Yep. I have yet to get the "Welcome" packet, but did just get a ballot package. I know only one person to vote out, and I wrote Penn Jillette in, but am still trying to educate myself on the others.

I just got my packet today also, I have been waiting for 2+ months, when I talked to the lady (when I ordered my lifetime membership) she said they were running 6 to 8 weeks. After thinking about it for 3 min I called back to get my son one. (he turns 17 on the 15th) and it should get here just in the next few days, just in time for his birthday.

I like to think I'm a good dad!

I called today also. It cost me money that could have been spent on investing mad money or half a new barrel for a safari rifle project.

But instead I invested it in the NRA. I am happy with my decision. "They say" that if all the buyers overspending now, would just take a fraction of that money and send it to the NRA, then blah blah blah...

Time to make good on that concept. Done and Done.

Next is to save nickels for the CRPA and the CGF.

Same here. I just received my tax return and it seems appropriate that I took some of my money back from the government and gave it to the NRA instead.

I find a certain kind of poetic symmetry in this
