First time I tried that I went to the Coach outlet after I picked up my new car. The next month she got her new car.

Hahahahaha - I asked my wife what she wanted for our 15yr anniversary a few years back -

She said: "Build me my own AR - I'm tired of borrowing yours..."

Just buy her a nice LV, Gucci, or Prada. Then she can't complain about the full custom 1911 you get.

Get a Hermes Birkin and make your wife really happy, the envy of her friends and be hated by your friends when their wives nag them for one.

You'll be able to ask for any handgun and receive it too. If you guys have any money left. lol

Just say No!

If you buy her something now she'll expect it in the future and from this point forward your screwed. There are times to be nice and there are times to hold your ground. Placing a condition on your gun purchase is time to hold your ground.

This works.

This is likely true.

I have had similar experiences. It costs more than just buying what I want, but in the long run, makes for smoother sailing.

LOL! Good strategy. You've obviously payed this game before!

True that!

Best one I ever pulled off was a Diamond ring inside a Brighton wallet which was inside a nice new Dooney & Bourke purse all wrapped up together. Make sure Mama is well taken care of and you can likely get what you want.

I agree, she wants you to buy it for her. It is something from you! I am always buying flower and sending them to her work and buying girly stuff. That way she never says anything about me buying my toys.

Agreed, but get a maching billfold to go with it, she will be walking on water for months, and her friends will tell her that you are the cats meow. Worked for me, she has no issue with my toy purchases. Just plan on getting her a new one every six months. Cheap price to pay, even though I will never understand the purse thing, a big bag that you can never find anything in when you need it, but hey, it makes them happy

My wife has bought far too many things from them over the last several years. Seems to be (relatively) very inexpensive.

You guys who talk about a trip to the Coach outlet should consider yourself lucky. There are no Chanel or Hermès outlets anywhere......

But my wife is very understanding of my collecting habits, and readily acknowledges I'm the head of household, so it's a small price (figuratively, and unfortunately not literally) to pay.......

Go to TJMaxx, they have a lot of designer stuff for like half off.

Or, depending on where you live, take her to the new high end outlet in Livermore. She'll be happy and you'll be broke.

Buy me a purse and get a handgun...here is my dilemma and is mostly my fault, but i guess I cant complain.

The day after Newtown I got a tip that there was a Larue PredatAR at a LGS. I begged my wife for me to get it since things were going to get crazy and probably wouldnt see a Larue ever again sitting on a wall. My wife agreed on one condition......

I wouldn't be able to buy ANY firearm until renovations are done to the house.

Call me crazy, but I agreed not knowing the open-endedness of the deal. Well, I bought it and was ecstatic and a month later, I brought up renovations. Turns out she wants a new master bathroom, updaated kitchen, wrap-around deck in the yard, new windows, and new hardwood floors!!!!!!!

I got her to make an ammendment to the deal that after 50% of the estimated cost of all these rennovations were done, I can get another firearm. She somehow agreed.

Lesson: Better to ask for forgiveness than permission. Permission comes with stipulations. Forgiveness means 2-4 weeks of stink eyes and silent treatment and maybe some doghouse nights. I would love me some peac and quiet. Damn...

My wife doesn't ask for much. But I do randomly buy her things that she wants or has been asking for. Nothing wrong with the wife getting what she wants too. That's why she hasn't given me any crap whenever I decide I want a new toy. Now she wants her own AR. Works for me.

^ this!

Coronado Leather makes some good stuff with a hidden lockable holster compartment. And the prices are pretty damn fair for their quality. Compared to all the ridiculously priced designer purses, it's a much better buy.

But if she's a girly girl that only likes designer stuff, you're hosed.

Lets just say that my wife has a huge collection of nice purses.. coach, brightenton.. etc..

It's not a "permission" deal.. here's how it works..

I buy an new gun or expensive car part.. my wife gets some sort of "prize".. before long she is urging me to go buy a new gun or expensive car part.

Read up on Pavlov's Dog..

Women want you to give them gifts. If you don't figure that out you won't be married long.

Figure out the balance of giving just enough and you'll be married for a long time. Having to ask permission tells me your relationship is far from balanced.

I got a coach a few couple of years ago but it's this LV neverfull bag she wants ($800ish).

She's not the type to whine and bit*h about it if I don't do it and she would never stop me from getting another gun but she really wants something from ME as a few have already mentioned. And that's the really point.

I just think it's funny how girls/wives think at times especially since she's willing to buy a gun that's $900+.
