What happened?

And you can rest assured that ammo companies aren't likely to try to expand their production to try to meet current demand because they don't want to be stuck with all the extra unused machinery when demand drops to more normal levels. Same thing with firearms manufacturers. It takes a lot of money to expand facilities and train new workers, and it doesn't make sense to try to meet temporarily inflated demand.

They wanted the .mil to shred their brass so it couldn't be sold to reloaders.

Well... actually, the reloaders COULD buy the shredded brass if they wanted to, but, well, you know...

This was despite the fact that .gov was taking in way more than scrap price for the intact brass...
