its not just about the money. It is also just fun to tinker around and change things up

Datamancer, maybe run a pitch by Bernie Rolfe at www.cbrps.com. They're all about research and development over there, plus they put a lot of time into a variety of Mosin stocks. Maybe he'd be interested?

Mike Ballard is the head designer for promag. He's a super nice guy and very hospitable.

I was walking the floor at Shot on Wed before it opened when all the exhibitors were getting ready and started talking to him and he showed me the Mosin stock.

Having recently purchased a 91/30 from Big 5 back in November and then two more M44's from AIM that I had not even picked up yet, I got pretty darn excited.

They had two versions up. One with a 91/30 mounted in it and the other with an M44 mounted in it.

They are both the same stock, just one had the 91/30 and the other the M44.

Mike took the M44 rifle off the wall and demo'd it for me. Showed me all the features shown in Mixflip's video (btw subscribe to mixflip) such as the barrel tuning screw that drives a "V" shaped wedge up to support the barrel, which will otherwise be free-floated. Mike said you can shoot the gun free floated, and then incrementally tighten the wedge to see which position will deliver the most accurate shots from the rifle. . . you can tune the barrel.

He also showed me the ability to drop in a Timney trigger and use the trigger's safety vs. the stock Nagant safety. . . and of course the trap door, adjustable LOP and cheek weld.

The stock will come in three colors. . . Black, FDE, and OD. But they only had it in black at the show.

I asked him if the stock improves accuracy and he said it was so new that they had not had time to actually go shooting with it. . . they barely got them out in time for SHOT.

Oh, in case you were wondering, when you see it in person, the rifle, especially with an M44 mounted in it (it has a perfect spot for your bayonet to fold into) looks nice. It really is a handsome rifle in person, not that the stock M44 isn't.

But what I really liked was that it was lightweight and when I shouldered it, the stock really feels good ergonomically.

I'll echo what previous posters have. . . .street price more than likely will be in the $160 range per Mike.

My problem now is deciding which of my three mosin's gets to wear the new Archangel Mosin Nagant Stock by ProMag.

Thanks Mike for being so hospitable and for creating this stock.

Mike Ballard showing off the new ProMag Archangel stock for the Mosin Nagant. Same stock fits either the 91/30 or the M44.

Will fit a custom ProMag 5 or 10 round magazine (comes with a 5) and takes a drop in Timney trigger.

Top is the 91/30. Middle the M44. Free floated barrel, pillar bedding.

I think the buying points are the REMOVABLE magazine and ten rounders.

Great product.

Cant wait for this to hit shelves...
The 10 round looks long when trying to bench or shoot prone.
I would still pick up the 10 round mag anyways though hehehe

Yuck. Now datamancer really had something good going. I would rather a non detachable 10 rounder, and regular stock, than that abomination.

I'll be getting one for a few reasons, adjustable LOP and no modifications are great, 10 round mags are going to be really nice and mainly because it's my rifle and IDGF what people think.

I would buy this for 2 reasons:

1. Detachable mags
2. 10 rounders

I like! That looks like it'd be a sweet backpacking rifle in bear or mountain lion territory.
