ASA advertisestheir "80% paperweights" as being 95% lower receivers, http://www.americanspiritarms.com/lo...ower-receiver/

80% is an industry term, it has no legal meaning. ATF does not rule that something is 80%, 85%, etc. They just rule that it is or isn't considered a firearm. companies can say their stuff is 40%, 60%, 80%, 99% if they want to.

Big time hater here. lol.

Legal requirement? I'm not really sure. I've only read on here that it's a good idea to have a copy of the letter in the unfortunate case where I might want to, or have to, offer proof of the legitimacy of my paperweight and it's prior acceptance by ATF as being indeed a paperweight.

More sadness- The San Jose build thread along with the DS Tactical thread has gone poof. Thats where I was reading a lot of what, seemed to me, good info.

The very last thing that I want to do is give the powers-that-be an opportunity to pick low hanging fruit.

Yea, yea I know. Burden of proof and all of that. I keep it right along side my copy of the 2nd A.

I am in the process of building the fixtures and doing the programming for production runs of 80% AR-15s. I am in El Dorado Hills. I have the jigs for Rohg and TM forgings and am waiting for others so I can offer a wide range of suppliers. Brand new CNC mill will be delivered in three weeks. Please let me know if there is still an interest in the Sacramento area.

Dan

Default Finishing my 80% lower

If you need help with finishing your 80% lower. I went to the guys in W Sac that Hawaii five-0 talked about. Those guys are true machinists when finished it looked like it was factory done. The trigger assembly and upper fit perfect and took less than fifteen minutes. only charges 75.00. PM me if you need there number.

After receiving my lowers from the QD group buy, I went up to see SEESM and he taught me how to manually use a mill. It was my first ever build and it took me a while to get the hang of it, but SEESM was there to support me.

Maybe I'm a little old school, but I prefer to turn the knobs, measure the drill depth and pull down on the press myself, just like I prefer to row my own gears.

In addition, if you like motorcycles or classic cars go up and see SEESM - trust me you'll have a blast talking about all sorts of stuff. I think I was there for about 3 hours, but it only felt like 30 minutes.

I'm in the Sac area (Davis to be exact) and am very interested in purchasing an 80% lower and participating in a build party. It will be my first build so I'm pretty excited. I miss my old M-16 from my days in the Corps.

If anyone has any info on where to get the lower and where to get it done please do PM me - I would greatly appreciate any assistance/guidance in this process. I'm getting soft going from the infantry to medical school - save me!

Default 80%

If anyone is still interested I have very nice billet 80's for sale as well as the machinist that holds the builds parties. You must buy an 80% " paper weight" from me however YOU must finish it at this machinists shop because he is the one who is making the 80's.

$150 each 80% and $20 to finish it.

The lower party is in chico in 2 weeks.

Check craigslist and look for a guy in rio linda. Or PM for his contact info. He's got the full setup. $100 donations for first, $60 each after that. Not quite as fast as the Dr's but pretty similar. Only one can be done at a time, so large parties are out. But one or two people should be fine. I'm not sure how much attention he wants.

I got a 10/22 80% and really just was scared of doing the barrel hole so I got it from Dr D since he had the machines setup so I could finish it. Just going to buy a jig and take my time. Don't mind putting in the work time. 10/22 From Dr. Death is awesome! Got it in Silver.
