I just received a new Mueller APT 4-14x40 AO scope, this is slightly different than the APV version, the APT is the big brother of the APV. The primary difference is the tube size APT = 30mm, APV = 1". Also the weight APT = 22 oz, APV 17oz.

Further the image at 100 yards is distinctly different, the APT is almost the same as 1" tube 8-25x44.

View APV 4-14x40 at 100 yards.

APT 4-40x40 at 100 yards,

Don't get me wrong the APV 4-14x40 has been a popular scope and I would be happy with either the APV or APT, in fact I was going to purchase the APV because it's price was right in my target price range, then I got lucky and found a sale that dropped the APT down to under $140 with a coupon, so bought it.

I'm waiting for mounting rings and rail which will get here today. I do have one issue so far, critical eye relieve is 3.25 - 3.5 in. That means I only have 1/4 inch to see the full pic. I didn't pay too close attention to this when deciding on which scope to purchase, and wish I would have found a scope with more like 1 inch critical eye relief.
