Only Dicks I know that sells firearms in Socal is the new(er) Huntington Beach location. So it might be worth the drive...

Besides them Turners is probably your best bet but they probably will have to order one as they are having a hard time keeping anything in stock it seems.

Some say Big5 have them too, but I have never seen one there.

Another New (Old Stock) Stock has been identified on Numrich and confirmed to work with some wood work to fit the trigger guard.

Photos can be seen here:
http://www.rimfirecentral.com/forums...d.php?t=487841

Stock, Walnut, Monte Carlo Comb, Buttplate, Factory Original, New
MARLIN | 70, 989M2, 995

SKU: 1233500A
http://www.gunpartscorp.com/Products/1233500A.htm

Has an interesting checkering pattern, not my cup of tea but I thought I would pass it along.

Edit:
Found another one unfortunately its a synthetic
Looks just like the standard 795 stock but its camo.. has metal sling studs.
Unconfirmed if it fits but it looks like it should, maybe with just some sanding for the LSHO lever.

Found something else interesting on an old ar15 .com posting

Quote:
Daisy makes an inexpensive micro-click adjustable BB gun peep sight that fits the Marlins like it was made for it. They only run about $25-30 and work great on a Marlin.
It appears he is talking about the "Daisy 5899 Peep Sight".
It looks to clamp onto the dovetail with 2 screws.
He does not say what front sight he pairs it with.

I need to get a BabyLULA..
I find that my 795 magazine springs have loosed up with use and only once and a while hard to get the last round in. But my GF complains it hurts her thumbs.

I love my AKLULA.

Honestly the factory Glock loader while simple.. is pretty good. You might want to try it out first before you spend the money.. could get an extra mag with the money you save..

I have fit a 795 to a 995 stock. This will work well; however you will indeed need to inlet the stock - you will need to router/dremel out the area where the LSHO lever extends. It's not a major project, but I do recommend going slowly.

Nice vid of the mag. Since there is no built-in way to load it and the lula wont work, maybe the video provides a solution. How about loading the mag without the spring and exchange the bottom screws with a slide-out holding pin?
What youd actually do is:
1) release the new bottom pin to let the spring partially go free but keep the internals in place
2) one hand holds the patially released spring while the other hand loads rounds
3) with 25 in, the spring holding hand closes the mag from the bottom and loading hand slides the holding pin in place.

Or, here we go again with plastic cut-out spring depressors.....

Oh man, they make a Lula for 22s? Guess I've been under a rock... The AKLula sounds nice too.

Went to Petaluma today and went shooting with a buddy. Shot about 250 rds through the 795 and didn't clean it (Out of gun cleaner ) last time and shot another 80 or so today. Definitely need to adjust the sights as it got knocked out of the dovetail and still shoots left after I thought I had it centered. No FTFeed, FTFire, or FTEs, just threw some oil in it and ran it. .22 is a nice change of pace after shooting 7.5 Swiss for most of the time.

Managed about 7" at 100yds out of those that hit the paper; between the Kentucky windage and sun, I thought I did OK. Tomorrow I'll give it a good soak and scrub. Even shooting Winchester 333 packs, only have had 1 issue and it was the FTFire I had last time.

Thing is like a Rolex: takes a licking and keeps on ticking.

Yea its been out for at least a year now.
I think the AKLULA was one of their first designs it has a switch that does all the work you literally just drop a round in and flip the switch. So nice. Most of my AK mags have sharp feedlips so it really saves my fingers.

Man I need to get out to the range.

Very funny, Chaos. Well, lets see how many people can quickly or easily load a 25 the normal way when they have trouble enough with the 10.

Ah, for me the 795 mags are the one that cut my thumbs open with the feed lips; the AK mags are just a pain because I replaced the internals before I blocked them.

I have tried the Daisy peep sights and even at their lowest adjusted position I shoot 2 to 3 inches high. They fit nicely, but do not work with the front sight. Front sight needs to be higher.

I love my tech sights. Gotta sight them in, I was a little left 25 yards, but all in the black in about a 1" grouping.

Thanks for the report. I am not surprised.. That sight looks much taller. I just don't know what front site would work with it..

If you figure out the height you could have skinned make you a front sight but you are eating into that cost savings.

Not interested in it for my self, just for information sake for others.

Personally my 795 has no iron sights at all. It's just scoped and I plan on keeping it that way. And my GF runs Williams fire sights..

Hey Chaos,

I love my tech sights. LOVE them. However while I was hitting 1" targets dead on with tech sights at 25 yards.....it would be a hell of a lot easier with a scope.

That being said, I'm new to the scope world as well. Any easy way to mount a scope on AND be able to use my tech sights? I dont want to ALWAYS use a scope.

There are see thru mounts but I would never suggest them. Ever.
1 They are going to mount your scope too high. Bad for a lot of reasons...
2 They are not going to grip the rail groove tight enough and will walk

So the best option is to buy two 795's and set them up differently

So there's no real good way to do this? Better mounts or anything?

Mounting higher isnt TOO bad in my opinion, I mean, its an elevation adjustment right? I'd do that anyway to zero it. Am I missing something crazy?

Chaos is right, there is no *good* way to mount both irons and scope. There is a dovetail to weaver adaptor, and combined with low or medium rings doesn't mount the scope too high But then you would be using the factory irons, not the Tech sights.

Trying to mount Tech sights underneath a scope forces you to use not only tall rings but also a spacer, and your accuracy off-zero will suffer.

Theoretically and in a controlled environment scope height has no bearing. You just get the bullet trajectory & scope to intersect at your zero and you're gtg. But if the scope is too high then the angles are too great, at any distance away from zero the 2 paths will noticeably diverge. And your Marlin & the scope are accurate enough that if you have a 25 yd zero and you shoot something at 28 yds, you'll see a difference.

While ballistically a scope being too high isn't really an issue "Theoretically and in a controlled environment"

In the real world:
If a scope is too high when you zero it you could bottom out the adjustment or leave little adjustment for it left.

Also if a scope mounted too high will cause you to have an improper check wield to the rifle.

Way back in the 1st 795 thread I was working on some issues….one being that my 795 wasn’t too fond of Blazer….too many fte’s (stovepipes etc) and that the charging handle was blowing back dinging the rear of the ejection port.

This saying to me that I might be rewarded if I could slow the blowback somewhat. So now that ammo is at a premium I’m willing to diddle with slowing the blowback by what appears to be the easiest or most obvious method of weighting the bolt.

If I remember correctly somebody posted that 30-30 brass would fit the charging handle. My thinking is that if I diddled w/ weighting of the charging handle I could slow the bolt/ blowback somewhat.

The bad news is that ammo isn’t too easy to come by….and all I’m really looking for is rifle caliber brass to fit my charging handle….is anybody out there able to help me out. I’d be glad to pay for postage.

I have a gub.

I just got mine out of jail today. It's the new stock that sucks, so I'm trying to find how to mount the UTG bipod to it. If anyone knows of a write up or YouTube video on how to do it, it would be appreciated.

Order new metal sling studs, nut and bolt style.
Drill appropriate size hole.
Attach sling studs.

Stud like this:

Are the new stocks bad in just that they have plastic sling studs molded into them or is overall quality of the stock lower as well? I had some flashing on mine that I sanded down, but it was the older Remlin stock that had metal studs.

Post from member sando pointed me to this article about Marlin coming out with a new official 795 LTR (Liberty Training Rifle) for Appleseed.

Comes with:
2 Magazines
Tech-sights
Sling Swivels
Web Sling
Gift Certificate to attend Appleseed

Unfortunately it seems they are still using the new stocks with the molded in sling studs.

Man that looks just like mine, but I added a bi-pod. I'll take it off for appleseed when I finally have some extra time/money to go shoot.
