Was just looking at the weather.
Doesn't look like it will be the warmest day of the week but the forcast I am looking at says:
55į mostly sunny FYI

55 will be practically toasty provided there is little wind.

I may be a jerk and bail. One of my best buds is moving in like a week and we might be going riding on Sat. Will let you all know.

No stresses, boys. This is supposed to be fun, Justin. Prayers sent, Chris.

I'm deciding which safe queen to bring. I have a few old dogs who've never been shot. I'm thinking my MN m91 B Barrel. I just love those blade sights. I have to work out some kinks in the camo target rifle. I'll have the .22's also.

The range on a Saturday? Well, perhaps I might stop in if I sport some protective gear for stray rounds and leave anything exciting at home as to not draw the unwarranted attention from the State Parks police that camp out in the pits and watch folks with scopes and binos

Weekends aren't bad early. i.e, before 11 AM.

Saw a "DWR Security" rig pass through a few weeks ago. I was shooting an AR, no harm no foul.

I know many don't like the weekends, but weekdays are difficult for me. I work at a school, etc.

So I will be driving the rusty 1971 truck.
I will be bringing an old 3 burner Coleman stove for coffee, but it isn't a grill. It could grill if anyone has a griddle, etc., to put on it. Not really a BBQ.

If I get up really early, I could get some plates, forks, cups, etc. Let me know what the plan is.

Kris, it was great meeting you and Anita yesterday! Nice weather, beautiful day.

Thanks to Wicked Pete, it looks like CDFingers has yet another Mauser stock project to work on.

I didn't even shoot my .22, as .223 and .308 are cheaper these days. Who would have guessed that?

I had a blast. We were fortunate that any north valley yay-hoos were sleeping in apparently. Very nice range trip. I'm still smilin'.

I'm a bit disappointed that I was unable to torque down my scope mount screws on the camo rifle enough. The night before I nearly bent the Allen wrench torquing them on. They loosened up again. I'll probably wait until the bolt handle comes from the Boltman. Then I'll turn the scope mount around to accommodate the short eye relief scope I have for it, and I'll put red Locktite in there in the three mounting screw holes. That should seal the deal.

I forgot to bring the camo paint for WickedPete. Now I have this groovy old Mauser stock and Pete has a naked stock with no paint. Pete, PM me so we can get together and get the paint to you. I don't want you getting arrested for having a naked stock.

Dutch, it was cool early on there. I enjoyed the coffee and appreciate the fellowship with all.

Well, I had a nice session at the range yesterday but unfortunately I think I was there after everyone else had gone. I didn't make it over until almost noon. I would have liked to have been able to say hi to some fellow CGers... Oh well next time.
I did get myself a nice sore shoulder from testing too many loads in one sitting though. I had good luck with the chrony. It read everything great until about 3:30ish pm. I started getting a few errors here and there. I think the angle of the sun was getting in a bad spot for the sensors or something....
Anyways, hopefully I'll catch you guys next time around.

I left just before 11, as I'd promised my wife.

A gent arrived just before I left--I forget his name, but he had a Brazilian lever action and a single action, both shooting .44 mag. I'd like to get his name so we can shoot again. A nice guy. If you read this, remind me of your name again?

I thought about it, but I am tapped/broke until payday. Why are these never held at the beginning of the month? Always the middle or last weekend.

I'm broke also but I was given a pass so thought I would go check it out. If nothing else than to just see if the hysteria has died down any and if prices have come down any.

Got back a while ago. The only thing I came home with was Girl Scout cookies they were selling out front of Walmart. It was the busiest show I have ever seen in Chico. Prices were sky high. The cheapest AR at the show was $1600 and the average price was probably around $2200 for a no name brand with a few cool looking rails. Saw a guy walking around with a M and P with a $2400 price tag on it (though it didn’t look stock). I don’t know, I guess I expected it but was still surprised. I have been out of the market for a while. Just not willing to pay these prices. The good news was that I found out a couple Anderson receivers I ordered in Dec for $89 finally shipped this week.

Well that sucks. Was thinking about going tomorrow.Anything in the way of bolt guns...been looking for a varmint rifle/light deer in .243/6mm or thereabouts.
How was ammo, guessing there was no .223 to be had, checked out the usual haunts in Oroville and they didn't have any, did pick up some .45 Golden Sabres though.

Just saw this in the Chico paper....maybe I won't waste my time.

Guns go quick at show and sale in Chico

"CHICO -- After braving a massive line and shuffling through a packed building, many people struggled to find quality inexpensive guns, which sold out within the first 30 minutes of the Chico Gun Show and Sale on Saturday."

http://www.chicoer.com/ci_22608796/g...and-sale-chico

Really kicking myself for not picking up an AR when I had a chance.

I had been buying parts to build one here and there for about a year and finally finished it about 2 weeks before everything went nuts. I was planning to start on another one, but I think I'll wait.

Thankfully, I have plenty of reloads.

Good for you!
Got a decent (never enough though) stash of ammo.

At least I've got my old mini-14, but I still want an AR. Guess I'll just
have to be patient and wait (hope) prices come down.

I really didnít look at the prices of bolt guns. The only .223 I saw were a few boxes(20 rounds) of XM193 for $20 and a 400 or something close to that pack of green tip. Not sure the price bit I remember thinking whoh when I saw it. No cheap .223 at all. The only thing I was kinda looking for was 308 dies and .223 powder, didnít see either.

Busiest show I have ever seen in Chico but the whole time I was there I didnít see one gun sold, VS the December show when there was a big line to DROS all the guns being sold. So maybe the masses have a bit more sense than we thought.

Just got back from the show in Chico. Yes, they had a few AR's, no I'm not gonna pay 3 times what they were going for a few months ago. Didn't see any .223, and didn't see anyone leaving the show that wasn't empty handed. Saw some nice old bolt guns, one particularly that I was interested in but the price was too high for the condition and age...I don't care if it is a 'rare' caliber (and what I was looking for).

Gonna have to do some more reading on the C&R thing here in California. I was under the impression that a rifle over 50 years old (1945), in original/unaltered condition was a FTF transaction. The guy who was selling the rifle said it would have to be sold through an FFL with background check, 10 day wait, etc.

Anyways, I love gun shows so regardless, I had a good time.

well whens the next one?
i was out of town but would love to meet up with some other calguners for a range trip.

also as most other web sites i go to the commen saying is pic's or it didnt happen. I know the pro-gun crowd is a a bit shy of the camera, but not even 1 pic of a target etc..

I didn't make it to the gun show. I had time, but I already have too many projects under way. I'll wait to go to a show after I finish a few of them.

Hey, Nor Cal Guy: we post in this forum when a shoot will take place. Keep checkin' in.

The only days I cannot shoot are Mondays and Wednesdays. The other week days I'm booked in the later afternoons, but I can play any time before about 2 pm.

Watch out for, I think, the third, or is it fourth, Thursday when they clean up the range. I forget exactly what day it is.

On the camo rifle I need to wait until the bolt handle gets here, but I've made ammo for a few other rifles, so I'm ready. In the mean times I'll make more ammo. I need some trigger time for my revolver. I've played too much with my rifles, so that's one thing on my list to do.

I have a bedding project ready to go--remember the FrankenMosin in the burnt stock, the one that cracked? That one is set up for bedding. Time, time, time, see what's become of me...

:-)

I am open for weekdays until mid spring.... I wouldn't mind going midweek when things are a bit less crowded.
