Default Remington 878 12 gage

Just picked up a 878 in great shape. Gun has not been fired or cleaned since 1969(put away dirty). I did a complete cleaning of the gun and did not find any problems except for some surface rust at the last 1 inch of the barrel...what would be the best way to treat it...or should I just add oil and leave it alone

I would get some brass wool and liberally apply oil to the spot with the rust

Use steel wool if you want to remove some metal, but use evapo-rust if you want to remove rust only. You can find them at auto-zone. Youtube the videos.
