Manufacturers have not increased their prices to distributors significantly. Most of the retail price hikes reflects higher markup from wholesalers & retailers. Factories’ profit margin on 22LR is the lowest between all ammo. When they have limited manpower and material, 22LR is last one on their planning board.

22LR is pretty scarce here in the Midwest. Oklahoma, Kansas, and Missouri all seem to have a shortage. Hope it ends soon.

started playing with mosins about 6 mo ago. i bought 5 bulk packs of federal 550 22lr before i started shooting the mosin. so i have about 2700 rounds of 22lr. if i could get it what is a 550 box of federal 22lr going for now. i think i paid 19 bucks at WM. i plan on shooting my savage 22lr a lot now with the crazy ammo prices.

That's what I learn in 2008 and now I buy ammo in bulk when it's cheap. I bought a bunch of 22 ammo when it's around 3 to 3.2 cents a round. Now I have about 19k of 22LR in my stash and it's going to last me until the the price come down again.

I seem to remember reading that they used to reload rimfire during The Great Depression and during WWII when it was rationed.

Last months Backwoodsman magazine had an article about how to reload rimfire using matchheads as the primer. Worth the trouble to shoot older odd ball rimfires that are costly to buy ammo for.

The $2.29 boxes of Armscor .22 I bought a couple of months ago are going for $15 per 50 box at my local ammo and shooting supply shop!!

The CCI Velocitor is $20 per box of 50!

Maybe it's because I fall more on the liberal side, or that my son is a successful economist, but don't lay this one at the feet of Obama. This is solely the act of greedy and hoarding gun owners and the hysteria that we all, and the industry have promoted.

I have tons of it. It was the first thing I bought and I bought cases. Did not want to get stuck like last time a communist N chief was elected.

If you have a job your kind of screwed, because your at work and not able to stand in line in the mornig when stores open. Luckily one of the offices I work out of has a Dick's sporting Goods in the same parking lot. I take a break at 9am when they open to get in line for ammunicion. Over the past couple months I have been able to buy a lot of 223 and 22lr there.

Very good, and very true.

Glad I was able to get a few rounds of it while it was still priced as Pb.

LOL, I was wandering who voted for Obama. You are the first Gun Owner I have seen that defends him on a Firearms related Website, well only one I have seen that will admit it anyway.

Yes this is 100% the result of him being elected, not only once, but twice and his crazy anti constitional rhetoric. Other Wacked Liberal Politicians contribute, but only he has the power to sign legislation into law and that is what we Fear. We 100% well know that he will sign anything into Law as far as Firearms restrictions of the Second Amendment and the more radical the proposals the more welcoming he will be to it.. I hope you are just Joking with us....

You sure realize if they could get a Bill to his desk tommorrow banning every Firearm in private hands and order them turned in and destroyed, he would sign it with a Big smile on his Face.

Please do not even try to blame this mess on Lawful Gunowners "Hysteria" and "Hoarding" That is a stupid assesment and total Falsehood of the reality that is really going on..Thanks
