Question back ground DQ?

I just put in my application for LASD, my question is will bankruptcy disqualify me? it has been almost 2 years ago since my BK was discharged. My credit is in the 650's now. What are your takes on this?

Its possible to get hired with a bk, but they do like to see a good history after the bk. I don't know if 2 years is long enough. Try anyways. What do you have to lose? Good luck.

There are some agencies which consider a bankruptcy an automatic disqualifier for 5 years. After that time, they then will consider the candidate's application.

I do not know if LASD does that.

Good luck to you in the process.

A bankruptcy is not an automatic DQ from a legal stand point. It will really come down to exactly what happened. If you went bankrupt because of your massive gambling problem your probably out. Now if it was because you lost your job it changes things.

I agree with the other posts here however, we are currently living in difficult times and agencies recognize this as well. I remember speaking with a co-worker who supervises the poly section and areas such as this are not focused on as highly as they were previously depending on circumstances.

When I was doing backgrounds each situation was looked at on a case by case basis. If you just went out and overcharged beyond your capabilities to repay, you would probably be disqualified. However, if you had the accounts for awhile and lost income, it is possible that you will be ok.
