I've never finished a piece of wood in my life. I will be going by the wood workers store. Every time I've been in there the place was crawling with older gents that look like they have pine oil for blood.

Been looking at that stock too. Nice!

How long is your barrel and what is the OAL of the rifle as it sits?

Tana,
The bbl is a green mountain 20" .920 ( like long guns) havent measured the Over all and I already took it apart to start the finish work on the wood.

JNunez,
Midway USA $79.99 = tax and shipping came in at about $100.00 to my door

I've got just the procedure that you need, works great, looks great, is fast and easy to do. Here's the link: http://www.rimfirecentral.com/forums...light=armorall

I have used this on 3 stocks with great success.

Izzy, I read that thread today while looking for info on refinishing a stock.
Thank's for the real life experience report. That's all I needed to convince me to try it. I wonder if I can get the wood a bit darker first?

I'm pretty sure I've decided to go with wood dye vs. stain. The dye is more translucent and will show the wood grain a lot better. After that dries I'm going with the Izzy's advice and try the magic mix from the thread he linked.
I'm going to take the stock to the wood workers store with me so I can talk to some of the folks in the know. Hopefully I can get and idea as to how the colors will look on the stock.

Default razle frazle razle

Well I just got back from looking for tru-0il, guess what? According to the fine folks at Turners Calif has pulled everything made by them ( I think birch Casey) does not meet the requirements of the Air Board so it is no longer legal to sell or buy it in Calif! Here's the deal, I work in environmental compliance for the feds. I see ever new reg that comes out on a daily basses. This news to me, I have no idea what they were talking about.
Anyway the bottom line is I can not find any tru-oil and now have to decide on a diff finish method.
ANy Ideas will be highly appreciated.
