Default What ammo should I use in my glock 21?

I can pick up my glock on 2/15 and was wanting to get some ammo beforehand. I'm located in modesto if that helps, but my main two questions are:

1. What should I use for plinking? Just some cheap fml? Not oppose to ordering online or even paying more for it (don't want to pay like 1.00/round or anything like that)

2. Good recommendations on home defense rounds? I heard ranger sxt's were good. Not opposed to paying top dollar for these seeing as I only need 10-20 rounds that will most likely not see action.

Thanks!

It's Glock.. any ammo should be fine except for lead. I believe most people buy Wolf Barrel for Glock when shooting lead.

So I guess that answers my question about what to bring to the range..but what about some quality, effective HD rounds?

I keep Remington Golden Sabres in mine, as my nightstand gun. For the range I use LAX Ammo's reloads.

Whatever ammo you use for HD you must be proficient with them first.

With the cross section of the 45 caliber -- a 230 grain ball round should be plenty good.

About to buy some Federal Hydra-Shok but I'm not sure if I can legally buy this..is it for LE only? Don't want to get burned if it is.

You can buy the federal hydra shok, no law against it. Same with winchester ranger.

I like Hornady Critical Defense, feeds well... whatever you use for HD, make sure to run some through the glock... you wanna make sure it feeds well and that you shoot well with it.

This^^^
Glocks aren't finicky, they're Glocks. They throw anything but lead in factory barrels.
For HD, I use JHP Hydra-Shok

Uhlan1,

Glocks run lead fine. Just have to clean more often.

Raufoss Mk 211, chambered for .45 ACP action.

The ultimate in multipurpose ammunition.

Good for both.

Has anybody tried using plated lead bullets in thier Glock. I got a really good deal on them- $25 for 500. I have no problem running them through my 1911, but I would like to know if they will be ok in my Glock.

Barry's plated 180 grn semi wad cutters. They cycle through it just fine.
