I would also like to know where this place is, and any other areas that are close to Moreno Valley are. Barstow is kind of far, especially when it sounds like there are places is in my backyard. I have a full size chevy and would love to help with the cleaning.

Happy New Year All!

Looking to clean up out there soon. I usually continue on the road and pass the antenna array, and a few sites out there are getting a bit messy. Wish there was a dumpster available though, as it is tough to haul the big stuff to the dump sometimes. Any suggestions?

People would have to chip in for a dumpster to be dropped off somewhere there at Steele peak. I was just there a couple weeks ago on the opposite side of the Satilites and found a lot of shotgun shells, I filled a bag half way of them but I started losing light. Next time I'll take a lot more. Just wanna keep it clean so we and our kids can enjoy a nice shooting location.

The BLM does not have enough budgeted funds for another dumpster yet in thier schedule
We'll have to wait for another Clean Up date in the future/ Maybe March

I was on the phone with BLM Friday about the clean up, like Eat Dirt said they have zero money in the budget for a dumpster right now ...but they have other options they are working on, there might be an organization that has a couple stake bed trucks that will haul and possibly take care of the dump fees.

I will update when I find out more.

I just started shooting here recently after leaving a club because of the drive. I noticed the BLM sign and would be crushed if such a great place got shutdown. I am anxious to help with cleaning as I have already noticed it starting to stack up again. Please keep us posted in future clean ups. PM me if necessary.

Can you please at least try to keep this spot somewhat small and not post about it on FB. The rest of us who have been shooting there for a while would appreciate it.

While this thread had good intentions, it will in all likelihood ruin this spot.

Please delete this thread or take it off sticky, the cleanup is over.

Sorry, I'm selfish, but after seeing what happens at low key spots after they get posted on a forum and every numbnut with no safety concerns shows up... it's no wonder good spot keep getting shut down.

On the flip side there are good people too that want to try new spots and always pack out more then they bring in. I stay in Riverside on the weekends and I am looking to for some good spots to take a 10 yrd old to teach to shoot beside Lytle creek.

SO NOT TRUE! I left the projection TV. I also forgot to grab the shower stall... you guys, "THE CLEANING CREW" must have been there before I could get back to it.

This thread is the organization space for an ongoing series of cleanups so deleting it would be counter productive, although I suppose it could be argued that creating a new thread for each official cleanup might cut down on the level of indexing that Google and other search engines place on threads as large as this one.

As far as keeping the spot low key vs. getting the word out to responsible and clean shooters that are willing to take out a bit more trash than they create I would argue that it should be considered whether or not such a policy of secrecy would really be effective.

You mentioned that in the past previously "secret" shooting areas have become widely known, and those areas in turn have been shutdown for being either too unsafe or too destructive. Why should we assume that a policy of secrecy for this area will ultimately have any different results? The relatively close proximity of this location to nearby towns and the already high levels use(and misuse) would indicate that word has already gotten out and without the clean up efforts of responsible shooters it seems entirely likely that the site would have already been shutdown.

I would argue that in order to preserve quality and quite frankly convenient shooting locations such as this one for the long term instead of trying to maintain some sort of "secrecy" on such a public location it would make more sense to continue what this thread was started to accomplish. To further develop a good relationship between local shooters and the BLM as well as other concerned political groups and to foster a strong community of dedicated, responsible, and safety minded shooters to not only use the area reasonably, but also to maintain a level of cleanliness in the area and to deter illegal and dangerous activities.

I'm NOT happy that it got crowded! Perhaps its just a sign of the times, everyone who owns guns has them on their minds these days! Hopefully, I'll be there next weekend... but early to get a prime spot!

Thanks for keeping it clean mrprazor!

My family owns property north of the rockpile and last week there was 4+ vehicles every single day shooting south of maywood gun club I was pretty shocked to see so much people go shooting throughout the week.

I have a truck and tools and I'm down for a cleanup just about any weekend. I also have a source that will take appliances, TV's and other electronics. I live in the Corona/Norco area.

PM me if something's going to be scheduled.

Thanks!

Right now there is not enough trash to fill a roll-off dumpster and BLM does not have the funds in the clean up budget to pay for one. They are working on other options though. I will post up any new news when I hear it.

Thanks to all that are picking up their stuff and others!

Here is that place in 2004... Before calguns and thougthful shooters who appreciate a good place to go plink! Look at all the garbage!

The next time we went we removed the jet ski, stove, propane tanks, and 2 pickup truck loads of garbage.
Most of it was spent shot shells...

Nice to see its still looking nice compared to days of old!

I have been going to this place since I was 8 years old (19 now) and

this place has definitely seen its up and down times. a couple years

ago I remember seeing a HUGE abandoned rv parked there that was

totally destroyed with gun shots. I wonder who cleaned it up..?

I'm gonna go out there today and hide several large items and give a prize to whomever finds them. A secret prize...

As much as I like to go to this place, we need more places to shoot at because I am sure that Bullseye has told another 800 people about it so that is why it gets crowded. I will only go there now to get some highspeed videos of my ak pistol being function tested without the rear cover.

So far I have confirmed myself, 2 more adult and 2 kids going Sunday to CLEAN UP the range and shoot too. I am teaching a 10 yr old how to shoot for his first time and told him he has to help clean up the area or he cant shoot. Got to instill the good habits young. I am bringing trash bags, bucket or 2, gloves, and rake.

New member here from Lake Elsinore. I own a 8x10 dump trailer with dual axles that should have no issues getting up the first hill or anywhere further in. I would gladly show up with my trailer and have it loaded up and then take it to the dump. A heavy load in my trailer is only around 125 bucks at the landfill and I have no problems covering some/most if the dump fees if people are willing to meet me and load it up. Maybe a few guys put in a couple hours and 10 bucks each and I cover the rest.

FYI - The 3rd Saturday of every month is a free dump day at Riverside landfills!

I'm not sure about El Sobrante in Corona...

However I confirmed with Agua Mansa earlier today because I have to cut down a tree in the morning and get rid of it!

how much is it for a dumpster?

maybe if we get a cgn members to donate for 1 dumpster like they did for that movie thread thingy. if we ask for $, i am sure we can raise enough for one dumpster...

and i am happily volunteering for the cleanup coming up.
