Default I shot two iconic C&R's today MG34 and StG44

Went out and shot one of the worlds first true "Assault" rifle (StG44), and one of the best machine guns (MG42) ever made this afternoon...Pure German goodness.

I'm still smiling. I've shot and worked on more than a few MG's as a law enforcement armorer, but I've never had more fun than I did today. I don't know how many belts I put through the MG34 or how many mags through the StG44......

Just awesome, and better yet it was only a few minutes from my house and I've got an open invitation for more MG goodness every week.....It's nice to have friends in the firearms business with an inexhaustible supply of ammo!!!!

Also shot a few of my recent AK-74 builds, which functioned perfectly. But the MG's kind of overshadowed those .....

Very cool... I'm curious what type of 8mm was shot out of the MG34?

I was so busy shooting I forgot to get some pic's next time I'll remember!!

The StG was better than I expected. The recoil was nil and very controllable both in semi and during bursts. Accuracy was on par with an AK. Thats one rifle I have always yearned to shoot....

We were shooting original German 1936 and 1937 dated ammo in the MG34.

The ammo for the StG was reloads. My buddy who owns these and many more MG's owns a reloading company so he makes his own StG ammo

You are the envy of all of us stuck behind enemy lines. Although to be fair, I did shoot a TV project out at Angeles a few years ago with a movie armorer and he let us shoot the Glock 18, FA M4 and FA AK 47. Not as cool as the two you shot by any means but it was pretty damn fun shooting MGs in SoCal legally.

Funny thing was, we had the LA County Sheriffs next door to us doing mass exercises all day, with pistols and MP5s and not one of them ever came over to see who we were or why we were shooting full auto all day. Guess they figured that nobody would be dumb enough to have a bunch of MGs in LA unless they were permitted to have them?

The trouble is you get excited and forget how to hold a video camera.
Movie gun test firing - blanks - but still fun.

Found an empty 7.92x33 Kurz cartridge case in my pocket this morning!! Thought I would post a pic of it next to a 7.62x39mm AK type cartridge.

When I shot an STG44 many years ago I was surprised how heavy it was.
