Default cost of dealer transfer out of state

I sold a rifle and need to ship it out of I called Oaktree which is pretty close to me and they told me $150 to handle everything....this is my first time shipping outta state but this seems ridiculous! Whats the going rate to transfer a gun out of state?

Most people just ship the gun themselves. No legal reason for using an FFL to ship it. The law only requires an FFL on the receiving end.

If your buyer's FFL insists that you ship through an FFL on your end then tell the buyer he needs to find a better FFL or he needs to cover all of your local FFL's fees.

You can ship a firearm yourself. In the case of handguns, depending on what the FFL charges, it might be cheaper to ship it through a FFL since the FFL can ship it USPS instead of FedEx/UPS overnight (policy, not law for overnight).

Long guns can be shipped by any means.

I will ship it for $100 :-). Actually, I tend to only ship handguns since there is no point to my shipping a long gun. If the other FFL refuses to accept a firearm from a non-FFL, then it is best to try to find another FFL. I normally charge $15 plus shipping.
