If you are using manual mill then no need for jig.

The jig is for a hack job.

It doesn't seem to be the case based on the response I got at the top of the page. That's my problem, there is confusion on which jig for a manual mill.

I would like some more clarification on the jig as well because I will be using a manual mill. Can the jig is used for locating the holes similar to an ar15 jig?

The jig is used for locating the 3 side holes.

The jig can be used for the rails...if you don't have access to advanced machinery - that is its purpose.

Most CNC players don't use a jig in this configuration, but rather a simple fixture.

The fixture details are coming.

Programming details are coming as well.

Cheers...

Received mine today. No letter of determination accompanied receiver, asked for in the white and received anodized with visible tooling marks. Meh, ok for the price as the mags don't drop free.

Was that from a pre-order or part of group buy?

Not sure how you got an anodized part. Anodizing is for aluminum, these (1911) paperweights are steel.

I thought people doing this work might want to know what they are doing or talking about.... to some degree...

Got a surprise today also. Rather, yesterday. Was wondering what was in the box or what I ordered, until I looked at the label and saw ARES... woohoo.

Dropped what I was doing and opened it up and fondled my new toy.

Anyone in bay area want to do a build party? With enough intrest ill see if I can get us acess to four haas canc machines so we can run multiple people at a time. If you guys are intrested ill try to set it up but probably be 5 or 10 bucks more then what ares charges only because id have to do multiple fixtures and make it worth it for the shop owner

Yep, anodized rolled off my fingers too quickly, black oxide coated. Not a huge issue, just adds work.

I am in. Just need to know when and where. And hopefully by then, I would hopefully be able to find a slide to use and match up.

Rock island armory gb for a low-er end parts kit than the wilson combat options through Ares. http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...d.php?t=691646
Also, this is for a different frame (still 1911) so parts could vary. KTO 80% looks like it has an integrated plunger tube.

Got mine today. Not the raw ones that I wanted (got the oxided ones), but I'm ok with that. Gonna cerakote it anyway. There're some visible tooling marks on them, one of the holes has some debris in it (oxided debris, at that), and the trigger guard holes don't align with the ones on the frame. All fixable, of course.

Gonna try and see how the mags fit. Will Ares be replacing the grips, if the fit is too tight?

You *will* have to file the magazine release and the magazine tunnel. On all of mine I just file the flat side(back towards the MSH). I just keep going at it and eventually the magazine drops free. For the magazine release you'll just have to figure it out along the way.

There is a new version of the grips in the works. Will replace the current one when its released. It fixes the issue with clearances
