Default Where to order a 1911 Springfield professional?

I'm in Sacramento area and would like a friendly FFL/gun shop to order from, hopefully with a low deposit, I understand the waiting period is 1-2 years.
Thanks in advance.

There's actually places that don't make you pay full price up front? At the very least half?

Since Springfield does not require a payment until the pistol is ready for shipment, your dealer should not charge a deposit.

What are you looking for, the PC9111, or the PC9111LR?

Regardless, there's one on GB right now. Otherwise, the wait is upwards of 2 years ordering directly from Springfield.

I have a PC9111LR, and the pistol is nothing short of awesome.

I've seen them listed on riflegear.com but its always out of stock. Couldn't hurt to give them a call to find out what they require as far as a down payment...that is if they do that. Good luck.

I paid $2450 for my railed Pro. 6 mags came with it, roughly $150. $2300 isn't too shabby for what you get. I don't mind paying for the mags as part of the package. It's a much better value than a Wilson. That's coming from someone that owns both. I'd pit my Pro up against my CQB any day of the week. Both excellent guns but your money gets you further with the SACS gun.

I don't think most people are paying under retail for Pro's (unless used? and even then), that's the problem. When you're paying $2800+ they're not really a "value" anymore (MIM parts or otherwise).

When I did it, it was pretty straightforward. Just go to the local gun shop, say what I wanted and they'd have to call the Springfield Custom Shop to put in the order. I had the phone # and who they were supposed to call off of one of the 1911 forums. $100 deposit.

The wait was only about 6 months back then though!

Imo, when you start getting outside of $2500 on a 1911, you're no longer paying for top quality parts, hand fitting and good finishing, you're paying for a name plus bells and whistles. Not much value in that. The last GOOD value I can recall was when you could get a Dan Wesson 1911 for under a grand.

Value aside, I can't wait to get to the top of the queue with Heirloom Precision! Got a unfit frame/slide and a box of parts waiting.....my hair might go grey in the meantime.

With the Springfield Professional, you're paying for the most extensively tested pistol in the history of the 1911. It has everything everything you need in a fighting pistol, and nothing you don't.

Pretty much. A no nonsense weapon. I like the fact that it's tight like a Baer and perfectly finished like a Wilson. The more I handle mine, the more I appreciate it. The only pistol I've enjoyed owning this much is my Brown SF that goes all over the place with me.

On a side note, I'd agree that when you reach the $3,000 mark, we're talking about diminishing returns in a pistol, but to suggest that Wilson or Nighthawk would be a better choice is a matter of personal preference.

When you compare the build-sheet on a Springfield Professional to the build-sheet on a Wilson, Nighthawk, Baer Custom, or a lone Gunsmith has a ridiculously extensive back-log with a 5-year wait, and only turns out 5 pistols a year, there is essentially no difference.

No gun porn in this thread? Inconceivable!

My Springfield Pro is the most accurate and reliable 1911 I own, and I have quite a few that are both accurate and reliable. Mines modified with slim grips and short trigger. I really like the rail for the extra weight that reduces muzzle flip plus the option to run a light/laser or even a scope mount without drilling the frame.

"essentially no difference"

You're considering a lot of unique machining/details to be insignificant.

What, wait! There's no wear to the barrel hood or grip safety! I know you have a ton of 1911's, but you need to shoot that thing!

Old picture when I had only shot a few hundred rounds through it

Current wait is 2 years. I ordered one feb 2012 with an approximate 15 month wait. I was just told by Springfield this week that it will be ready feb of 2014. Order one now if you are, the wait may be over 2 years now.

No dealer should charge a deposit because Springfield charges nothing until it is delivered.

I have ordered three, none of the dealers charged a deposit.

Just trying to help. I don't see a problem with a deposit and a small payment every month. You gotta pay anyway is my point and for me it's better than a lump sum. I bought a Springfield lightweight champion and I don't really see a difference between the one I have and the one yer after. I also bought a TRP that I just received and had them do some custom work before sending it out...fixed sights and od green frame. I love it and it didn't cost quite as much.

There's two Professional's on GB right now. One of them looks new, but they're not Light Rail models.

My Nighthawk GRP is a better choice! Don't argue with me. LOL.... And prob gonna order me a Pro within the next 2 months. Your Pro is looking muy bonita. The wife gave the okay but now she also wants a Nighthawk. I told her its overrated. Use the one we got.

I hear ya. I put away a little bit to the safe every month so it won't hurt so bad all at once.
