Default Savage 93R17 Review

Sup Guys

Picked up this Savage in 17HMR a while ago. I got a chance to put at least 100 rounds thru at 50 and 100 yards. I wanted to practice more long range shooting past 50 yards and decided to go with a budget bolt action rimfire. This model cost me around 400 dollars and came with one 5 round mag. The trigger is great and is already set to the lowest setting from the factory. Lower end models start at 250 dollar range.

Savage 93R17TR with Vortex Crossfire II 6-18 X 44

50 Yards

100 Yards (Need more practice but I was surprised how I did)

What kind of bipod is that you have on there? Which brand of scope rings did you go with and what height rings did you need for the size of your scopes objective? Nice looking gun, will be picking one up in a few days myself.

The bipod is some cheap 20 dollar knockoff...UTG I think. I had to use high rings cause my scope objective is 44.

I have the same rifle, your right very accurate. I used a Wally world center point 4 x 16 40MM scope, Burris high rings shoots well.
This is 25 rounds back to back at 100 yds. I found mine shot better after a 100 rounds or so,

That's some great groups. I need to get a rest for the back of the stock...I looked at the monopods but their really expensive. Probably gonna get a cheapo Caldwell bag rest.

You have a wonderful looking rifle with a nice heavy barrel.

Mine is an early version with a tapered barrel and it still shoots great. I never shot at 100 yards yet but mine will take a head off a varmint easy at 75 yards I figure. My only gripe is that it has no sling swivels.

One draw back of that stock is the stock doesn't have a good place to rest your cheek, I bought a add on and made a big difference.
