Hello all,
I live in Santa Cruz and like to shoot most anything with a 3 (.38, .357, .308, & 12 ga: 1+2=3 ya know :-) Just got into handloading, having fun w/ it and learning a lot. Former Brown Water Navy, into mountain biking, bow making, primitive skills, homesteading, and would love to go wild pig hunting nearby some time. Licensed hunter, took the DNR Wild Pig class recently and need to find some private land w/ piggy problems. Otherwise I'm a dad, husband, and work with water systems and land use issues. |

Wouldn't we all like to go hunting somewhere nearby! It's pretty hard to find a rancher around here anymore willing to allow someone out of his circle of friends hunting privileges. Good luck.
Maybe Hunter Liggett or Camp Roberts. I used to love going to Fort Ord for quail and bunnies. Not anymore ![]() Lots of great fishing opportunities here, if you do that. |

Hey there fellow shooters. I'm in Buellton and enjoy hand-gunning; especially my new Para Slim Hawg .45 and my very old Winchester Model 94 30-30.
I'm also a long time aviator involved with AOPA and EAA bringing aviation to youngsters. |

Uhlan. Corralitos outside Watsonville. Recently back into shooting....everything. Long, short - most calibers. Markley's and Los Altos up in the hills. Consider myself a rookie. Skills? Well, have a small horse ranch so can do a lot of stuff. Have also been training police dogs for almost 20 years, but that's slowed down so getting back into shooting with a vengeance.

Seaside, 23 years old.
I shoot at Markley's, Laguna Seca or somewhere out in Los Padres. Kind of self taught to shoot, by looking at resources online and a little help from friends, but I am still learning a lot. Don't have too many rounds down my barrels yet. I have a 12ga and .40S&W, as well as a 9mm joining the fold soon. I would like to get into reloading, but I rent, etc, etc, so now wouldn't be the best time for me to invest in nice equipment. I was reading through a few of the pages here, there are quite a few of us. We should organize a gathering, It'll be spring soon enough. Anyone have any land we could use to shoot and have a barbecue on?

I guess I should say Hi. I'm a second generation shooter so inherited some nice old 30-06 rifles from my dad, I'm 62. I also did a little rifle reloading years ago with my dad. I target shoot now and then, very casual stuff, just so I don't totally forget what my dad taught me. I also have a 9mm & 45 pistol & used to go to Markley's with my wife about 6 - 7 years ago, mostly for self defense & fun. We are now way out of practice & need to go again.
My name here - fastguy - relates to my interest in auto racing, not fast shooting! ![]() |

A big Hidy to everyone! I am new on here and live in Santa Cruz. We have several different guns/rifles, but my current one is a Glock 19. My next one...when it is available again...will be a Springfield VD 9 subcompact. Looking at my username, you can pretty much figure out my hobbies. I'm a former college cheerleader, current high school cheer coach, and gun owner. I am also the new CA State Coordinator for Second Amendment Sisters. So I am hoping to start up some Ladies Shoots in the spring in the local and surrounding areas. Nice to meet y'all!!

i feel silly posting in this thread after all the years i've been on calguns but another big "HOWDY" from north of boulder creek. prefer the Los Altos range up on skyline, appears the Cow Palace is now the nearest gun show, and my fav gun shop is Eddy's in mountain view [definitely female friendly!] followed by Markley's. as it is with shoes and purses, a woman can never have too many guns......

Prunedale checking in. Moved to the Central Coast for work a few years ago. Hunted and fished with my dad growing up and now that I have a son of my own I'm looking at getting back into it. Anybody recommend a good place to hunt birds, pig, and deer? Thanks.

We call Prunedale, "Prunetucky," since it's out there in the boondocks.
![]() Fort Hunter Liggett fits your request for all the above. Strictly non-lead now, unfortunately, because of the prehistoric buzzard on perpetual life support in California. |

Hi, Cayucos here.
Note to ALL. THE SLOSA is having another EXPO in October. Free ammo and weapons provided. Leave yours at home and come on out. Vendors and slosa members provide instruction. Last year I helped on the rifle range (bolt action and semiauto 22's) and there were many children and ladies who had never fired a weapon. Everyone had a great day and it was free. Rifle, handgun, shotgun, muzzle loaders the chorro valley regulators with their Colt peace makers etc. Use Cuesta College parking area on Highway one between San Luis Obispo and Morro Bay and board free trolly to SLOSA Range. Go to SLOSA.ORG for updates. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Hi all, new to Calguns, but love what I've seen so far! Santa Cruz here, been around firearms my whole life, shot on the pistol team in college and get to the range (Markleys usually) as often as I can (which isn't often enough!). I currently shoot a Ruger P89 9mm, Sig P250SC .40 cal, and a Windham AR .223/5.56.
