Default Any Local Build Your Own AR

Happy New Year,

Looking for a local dealer (if any) providing build your own. One in Ar-10 in 308 and one in 5.56 CQB. I waited way too dam long to do this but lacked funds.

Anyone in the know of potential affect of legislation addressing the Build your own market?

Thanks

Are you wanting to mill your own from an 80% or assemble your own out of an existing lower?

There are a few people doing milling. Do a search in the gunsmithing and rifle sections. I know I saw one guy in SD and a few guys in OC. Assembling is easy. There are tons of people here that would show you the ropes (in exchange for a commensurate supply of pizza of course ) And there are a few videos on Youtube that lay it all out straight.

There is no legislation to speak of yet so any statement would be speculative. They can try anything they want; it is up to us to stop them.

SB 47 is attempting to ban the bullet button. Also brownells had a good video series on the basics of building your own AR, The sereies is free on their website.

Thanks guys, My thought was to mill but would like to take the easier route and just "assemble" out of an existing lower if same in eyes of ATF or DOJ. Is milling 80% lower required to be "legal home-built". I have sufficient supply pizza and cigars. I am not a machine shop guy, but, I can take a part and build.

Using an already built lower is easier if you plan on making a rifle and is cheaper than going the 80% route (if you have to pay for the blank, pay to rent someone's CNC machine and pay for anodizing or buy a anodized blank and live with bare firing control internals).

If you want to build a pistol, it is easier to do 80% for a custom build. Otherwise, you have to SSE and DROS a full pistol to start with then add your custom touches from there.

Really depends on what you plan on doing.

80%~more expensive, free to build a pistol, no paperwork.
100%~less expensive, rifle only, requires paperwork for purchase.

Cost sections are what I would have said 3 months ago. Now? Probably about the same price if you can find either.
