Use the ammo in the bucket before you go shooting your buckets of 22lr, that would just be wasteful otherwise :P There's a shortage I hear.

Good choice for a first longarm. Do yourself a favor, do a complete field strip and clean the snot out of it. Run light lubrication and have fun. Stay away from hyper-velocity ammo (>1250 fps.) as this may damage the recoil buffer.

will 1280 fps at muzzle hurt my rifle?

Good choice. The Marlin 795 needs very little cleaning, if any at all. I shot about 8ish bricks through my 795 and haven't cleaned it once. Just need a squirt of CLP every 300-400 rounds or whenever you get a stove pipe.

No problem. I was referring more to CCI Stingers and others in the 1600 fps neighborhood. I'd even be wary of the Velocitors (~ 1435 fps).

My Marlin jammed more than I think it should have, and at an Appleseed course too! That sucked.

I think the key is very little lube.
