Default Reuniting a cross with a marine

I bought a used ILBE Rucksack from MidwayUSA and upon going through the bag I found a cross in the front pocket that has a fold out flap to cover the front molle.

Is this something that a person would want back? I am sure that it would be difficult to find the owner but if anyone thinks it would be worth the effort then I will post on lightfighter or similar mil forum and maybe even reddit.

If anyone can provide any details about the bag I would appreciate it. I assume it was for the Marines. How about issue time frame? Who would have gotten it?

There are two identify markings. JS written on the front molle and a green band around the front left strap. There was also an item in the pocket with the cross that I will let the owner identify to show proof on ownership.

It would be a Marine not a soldier. There isnt much to go on. Its not a bracelet its a boot band.

To be honest it looks like a generic cross that a unit Chaplain would give out.

I know they gave out St. Michael medallions with our units crest on the back from the Chaplains.

I may however be wrong and I think it's great that would you like to find the Marine who this belonged to as most people wouldn't even think of doing that now a days.

You're right, it's for the Marines, and currently still in use afaik.
Initial roll out was around 2002 I think, since my unit got them after returning from Iraq.

It's a solid pack, I have one and have used it to backpack internationally. Too many straps, so it's not airliner checked baggage friendly unless you put it in a larger outside bag. There's a matching day-pack that goes with it which holds a camelback. there should also be a radio pouch near the top of the main compartment, and a divider for the main space inside the pack. The internal aluminum frames are adjustable so you can mold it to the curvature of your back, and the hip belt should be removable as well.
