A few of my Marines and I were discussing this very thing on duty the other day. I think it's a scary proposition. My reasons for joining the Corps in the first place tell me heck no. However my family depends on my service and me to do the right thing as well. If the laws made it so far as to make it not an unlawful order I honestly don't know what I would do. I hope I never have to answer that call. At the point this happens we really are looking at civil war in my eyes.

We need to bring the draft back! Do you like risking your lives for Israel? You all are part of the largest mercenary group in the world; and you will do what you are told. The military is already training to take our guns. All of your military leaders who might have have organized a coup are gone--retired or fired. Suicides out numbered combat deaths last year. Why? Because immoral war crushes your soul. I love the fact that most people join the military right out of high school with no real experience in the world. Good luck.

I ask a couple of questions.
1. Why do we need to bring back the draft?
2. Please explain risking your life for Israel?
3. Who is part of the largest mercenary force in the world? (The proud members of our Military????)
4. Can you show me any articles that confirm the US Military is training to take Americans guns?

Thanks for the answers when they come I was confused with the post/ I won't even speak to proud Military leaders being accused of willingness to fight a coup against our own country.

Show me proof that we are? Since I have been serving for 24 plus years I have never seen nor heard of anything like it. And citing infowars is not a credible source. I want actual military memos, orders, or directives. Anything less than official documentation that is verfiable will be dismissed as hearsay and utter BS.

And showing National Guardsman training for Iraq won't cut it either.

The other option is take your troll post elsewhere.

That's the rub, Sarge. Do you follow orders to protect your family and become a Nazi thug? Or do you refuse orders and end up in jail and harm your family? I'm in the same boat, kinda, being former 0311. What do I do? Do I surrender my arms when they come to the door to protect my family or resist? Or do I get all subversive and work underground aiding and abetting a resistance movement? It's hard to say what to do about it, now. I think we'll have to play it by ear and see how it unfolds. The decision may be made for us. For instance, if the head honcho of Camp Pendleton refuses to send troops to confiscate guns, will they try to arrest him? If so, what if there is a fight right on Mainside? What will the MPs do? What will the 1st Division do? At that time, choices may be easy.

This thread is doomed to die an unproductive death, as all it is going to do is spawn a flame war.

It depends on the situation, but it ultimately comes down to security and safety of the guys at my left and right. I would like to think that most commanders wouldn't make that order unless there was a very good reason. Personally, as long as that weapon isn't pointed at me, (and preferably on safe, and unloaded in my presence) I wouldn't take it.

Our military operates in many countries with very minimal or even non-existent gun laws. Places where insurgency/terrorism is everywhere, and gun ownership is as normal as breathing!

Not saying that insurgencies are non-existent in the States, but certainly not on the same level as they are in other places...

I guess what I'm trying to get at, is that we seem to be more afraid of ourselves as an American people than we are the people we're actually at war/in conflict with.

This whole mindset I've seen of people being too lazy to take personal responsibility for their own survival has been really cheesing me off lately. Government is there to support the people, not control them. What's been happening is akin to the Master following orders from his dog.

Very true. Come to think about it there are an awful lot of personally owned firearms on here too. I've been on this base or in the general area for about 8 years between my two trips out here. I have yet to hear of a gun related incident on base in that time. However I could tell you that on my street alone I know at least a dozen guys with multiple weapons. And that's just the people I know. How are they planning to come get ours??? Send our brothers to come get them? I don't think that would work to well. Personally I think I'd opt for your option 3 so I could do what I feel is right while keeping my family at as little risk as possible.

No, I'd walk door to door ASKING people to give me their firearms though and if they said no, I'd say "thank you, have a great day...watch out for the next guy!"

(could be a good way to end up with some nice guns owned by some stupid people...)

Ha you newb.

I would shoot him in the face, steal his guns, bang his wife and eat his Cheez-Its because I was ordered to.

Questions like this are stupid. Officers who would give such orders would not do so lightly. Would I take an order to walk door to door and take people's guns without just cause just because someone with a star or an eagle on their shoulder tells me to? nope. not without some due diligence.

By the same token, would I return fire if me and my guys take contact during a Katrina like situation? You bet your *** I would. I'd kill a US Citizen in a heartbeat if he were trying to kill me first. The same can be said for anyone carrying a CCW and is worried about a carjacking.

I have been in the Army a long time, and I know that a lot of the guys in longer than me have the same type of mentality that I (we) do. Soldiers are just people like all of us. Not Jack Booted Thugs like a lot of folks seem to think - and more often than not, they are people who take the constitution VERY seriously. After all, that is what we swear allegiance to - not the president, not congress... to the Constitution and the American People that it represents.

The US Military is unlike almost any other military in the world - we owe our allegiance to the United States and everything it stands for. There are no military coups here, we are servants to the nation, and we acknowledge that there is a civilian supremacy in this country. This will never happen in the United States, and if some beaurocrat tries to make it, he will have a gun owner with a series of stars on his shoulder tell him in not so many words to go **** himself.
