We're guilty of being men...We see something we want and we get it and add to the rest of the souvenirs and spoils of war. I have guns Ive shot once at the range and havent broke them out since. Gunsmith asked me "So, what happened to that pistol u bought a few years back?" I told him I havent shot it since he fixed it 2 years ago.....

Some buy to collect, some buy to admire. Some aren't lucky enough to shoot as often as they'd like. Tons of reasons. I have 5the 1911s that I never shoot because its just too expensive, 9mm is half the price.

Same could be said for shoes, cars, bikes, clothes, wine....pretty much anything. Not sure why this bothers you....it is their money. If I buy a gun and it sits in my safe/closet for 20 years, or I sell it in 2 months, that is my bidness.

I think once you have say... 10 guns, when you get a new one, you will take it out in excitement, simply because it's new. Then the novelty wears off and it gets put with "the rest" and you lose track... Hah

Because a Glock looks great in the case and then when you take it home it feels like you're holding a Costco pack of Kielbasa.

Just like in restaurants, people purchase with their eyes instead of their stomachs, or what their real needs are. However, since we're in a society that loves the idea of consumption, you can never have enough...

I think a major reason is the price of ammo. So many folks run out and by .50ae or 6.8, or 338 Lapua weapons and don't think about just how expensive it is to feed them. even .308 is twice as expensive as .223, so you have to calculate the cost of the ammo into the price of the gun. (or it will be a safe queen)

Of course, once to get to a certain level of collecting where you have dozens of guns, you just aren't going to get a chance to shoot all of them all the time.

It is obvious question that you already (or should know) the answer to boss. Not everybody is alike....and some like to collect, some just like to have, some like to make a profit, some are broke and need money, yadda, yadda, yadda, and the chicken pooped in my lap.

Because I can.

In reality I have done this because of impulse buys. Something looks nice and then I change my mind later. I bought a Glock 17 in 2005 and only fired 100 rounds through it. Wasn't too impressive to me, so I put it in the back of the safe. I recently sold it to a friend because he wanted it. I sold it too him for what I paid, $400. He was happy and I wasn't going to miss it. The only reason I bought it was because there was so much hype behind it but like I said I wasn't impressed.

still have a draco I have yet to play with. Still have an AR pistol I need to play with. Have plenty of ammo to do so, just not enough time to go do so. Nearest range is pistol or pistol caliber rifles only.

I have lots of guns.. some I shoot.. others I just want.. it's not realistic for me to shoot them all..

Some I got because I thought there might come a time when I couldn't get one.. guess I was right on that.. lol

What's crazy are some of the ads I've seen in the Marketplace where guys are selling their AR's while they're still in the 10-day wait. Or they just picked up the gun a few days before putting up their ad.

Oh, and of course, the guns have been marked up to almost double the probable initial purchase price.

I have a big wish list, and when a good deal comes along I get it, even though I might not have the free time to take it out. It sucks to work six days a week but it's the only way I can buy my toys. I have two pistols now that I haven't taken out yet but will never sell.

Bought a C96 broomhandle mauser 19 years ago and still have not even got ammo for it. My wife gives me crap about it every time I want or buy a new gun. "What do you need another gun for you still have one you never use." I should just tell her I sold it.

I have a friend with about a dozen guns. He had never fired any of them until I drug him out to the range about a month ago. He's constantly buying and building guns, and was talking about building 3 more AR's. I asked him why he needs so many of the same gun, then asked if he had fired any of the guns that he has. Nope. So now, at least he's fired about 6 of them.

I have:
Ruger P94 .40
S&W M&P 9c
Sig SP2022 9
Win 1894 .32 SPL
Win 70 Featherweight .300 WSM
JD/Adams AR-15
Colt 6951 9mm AR
Saiga AK-74

The only one I haven't fired yet is the Colt, which I just got just as all the B.S. started, and I've only put about 30 rounds through the Sig, which I've had for about a month now.

lets just say i have less than 75 firearms, some have never been fired and never will , by me.i like guns and if i see one i like and can afford it i buy it.the bummer is its hard on my gun buying money since i try to keep a minimum of 500 rounds for each firearm i have.one thing i have done is pretty much eliminate the cheap guns that i or my dad had. i have one in gun jail, one bein brought to me from a trade i did awhile back and im on local store list for a stainless springfield 1911 a1. and i may pick up a few more glocks just because, lol. a few of the guns have sentinental value to me, some are a great investment, others i think may be good to have if stuff ever goes south and some i just like.

Because I'm impulsive.
"Gee, Don't have one of those. have to have one of those."
Heck, I've got long guns still BNIB. High demand one's too. Harder to get out with those though where I live.
I guess what it basically comes down to is I'm an impulsive idiot.
