HELP! Ok so my Toshiba laptop has a complete white screen when powered on. Is this a hardware issue? Is it an easy fix? What are my options? I paid $299 for it two years ago from Best Buy. I dont want anyone from the "squad" to work on it for various reasons. Thanks in advance.

Yes I have already connected it to my TV and backed up my files. It is in fact the screen. Just not sure how to go about fixing the issue.

nothinghere2c is correct. This was common in several models of Samsung and HP laptops where the internal display cable was getting worn from the hinge's movement.
Swap the cable (usually less than $20 on ebay), and the LCD will return to life. Now, removing the lid could be hairy for some models but is usually fairly easy, since the manufacturer that went cheap on the hinge design usually also goes cheap on the lid design. That means it's usually just four or six screws holding it all together. You can Google for directions on how to open the lid and change the display cable. Such instructions are very common. |
