Default Shiny Brass

I tumble brass a lot. And it looks pretty good.
BUT......
How can you make the Brass really Shiny?
Lemon Juice and Water???
What mix.

And the last question....... What is your favorite Formula?

I've been tossing chunks of cut-up steel wool into the media. Tumble as usual. Seems to shine up even really ugly brass.

Tumble after loading.

I have separate media I use for the tumble after loaded rounds, 2 cap fulls of mineral spirits and 2 cap fulls of braso. You have to add this to the media BEFORE you drop your loaded rounds in - it needs to "mix" (i.e. run the tumbler for an hour or two).

My rounds come out looking like factory loads. The media gets ugly back, but it seems the dirtier it gets, the cleaner the rounds come out.

Stainless Media - Nothing but Water, Dawn and a dash of Lemishine. Note the primer pockets - you'll never get them to look like that with anything else.

You tumble the cartridge cases in the soap/media/lemishine solution in a rotary tumbler.

Mineral spirits and Brasso in the media for me too. Works very well, change media when tumbling time to bright and shiny takes over 90 minutes to two hours. I use a commercial tumbling media I get in large bulk bags for pretty cheap. Walnut shell or corncob are also good media choices.

For SS tumbling, check out MidwayUSA, they have a sale on Thumbler's Model B and 5lbs of SS media, according to latest flyer. Shipping may or may not kill the deal.
