Default The womans gun shirt challenge...

Ok...

So here's whats up...

Massameet has stated:

Quote:
As a female with artistic tendencies, I like that graphic. But I'm not sure I'd still be willing to wear it.
So I'm taking it as a personal challenge to design a shirt with a firearm based design which she will be willing to wear.

Below are some examples of my work and there are a few other projects on my cafepress account which can be linked to here:

http://www.cafepress.com/AJAXArms

I'm not doing this for the money, but I like doing graphic stuff in between more substantial projects.

Here's where I need your help...

I can design things I'd like to see on a woman... but I can't determine what you all would like to wear.

So.. what do you like to wear?

If there was a gun on your shirt, what would you like it to be?

What sentiment would you like it to express?

How many colors would you want incorporated into the design?

Black fabric or white fabric?

Your help is greatly appreciated.

I like the idea that you are trying to find a design women like.

I don't like wearing anything with a gun on it. I know, I know, you don't need to say it.

The area that I work is very sensitive to gun issues so I try to respect that. Not that I am bending to the will of the anti's but rather, at any given time my ICU has 3-5 GSW victims. I try not to shmeer pro-gun stuff in the families faces, and that includes when I am out and about town. Often, I see family members when I am shopping, so, you know that's how it is.

What would I wear?
Something that is subliminally pro-gun. At first glance, you would think "oh, that's a pretty flower!" but on closer inspection, you find that vase of roses is a vase full of M16's.

That's how I have to roll. Sort of sad, but in my line of work I need to respect my patients and their families. If I wasn't a nurse, then I would wear whatever the H I want.

I'm in the same boat. Subliminally pro-gun would be awesome! Incorporate it into the detail of the design, so it's not obvious at first glance, rather, only on closer inspection. That I would find intriguing!

I also like the idea of the 10 amendments listed, with the 2nd one highlighted.

For me, I follow what OHOD said. One of my co-workers found out that I was a gun owner and started bringing it up in conversations, including one with my boss who is anti-gun. I had to talk to my co-worker yesterday and ask him to please not bring it up again.

But I do like that navy blue shirt with the brass knuckled gun.

perhaps tees fitted for a woman's figure, with words that are female empowering.

ex.... The Second Amendment
empowering women to be safe since 1776

(copy of the 2nd below)

Or.........I love Men
but my safety is my responsibility.

I'm a pagen heathen who abhores wearing shoes and socks. If it weren't for the standard Calguns polo for the shows, I'd show up in my typical tank top, shorts, and sandals

I like the idea that you're trying to develop something to fit our forms instead of a man's 2XL. As OHOD mentioned, I'm at the advanced age where a huge gun graphic doesn't do it for me although if it were small enough (like a 1911) where it doesn't dominate the shirt, I'm ok with it.

Please, no pink. Other ladies may prefer that color, but I'd like a solid blue, purple, or white. Told you -- at this age, I'm kinda boring

What about a polo with a small pistol crest on it?

If it's a T or a tank top, I could live with that, but no polos please. Too much of the gun show attire

Try this on for size....

Imagine a crown. Each of the spikes, is a 1911 pointing up. The grips form the upper half. Printed in the lower half is this. "Freedom" "The John Moses Browning Way"
Exiting each 1911 would be a stunning jeweled 45 cal bullet.

this one, loose, not fitted, comfortable for the range. not keen on the size of the handgun, though. personally, i don't like advertising that i have guns.

i do wear a t-shirt with the first 10 amendments listed....and i could see that with the 2nd amendment highlighted.

Good input.... I think I'm going to have to work on my use of color ...

Here is a monochromatic design based off of some art that I had done previously

I like your prototypes because they definitely don't look like a man's 2XL

No surprise SajeDean comes up with something nice like this. I know several women I'd buy those Tee's for.

I agree with the no gun on my t-shirt..

I like the idea of inconspicuity, so sayings or quotes that only gunners acknowledge and understand would be cool...

"from my cold dead hands"

Alrighty, I tore down the classic molon labe slogan and painstakingly rebuilt it in high res so it looks better, then altered the font slightly and replaced the original omega with a pink heart omega...

Crazy amount of work for such a simple adaptation... but it came out very clean.

Here it is on a hat:

And an Iphone cover..

I'll see if I can't get it put on some other things if this is met with some positive response...

as for the loose fitting blouses, to do that I'm going to have to probably look to a different company to print the tops (or licence the images to someone who has the capability)

I'll try working on some of the other slogans/layouts sugested after I eat something... (I get way to involved in working on the computer)

so... thoughts?

Ok... admittedly this is in bad taste.... but apparently cafe press also allows for you to put graphics on womans thongs.... and the whole 'MOLAN LABE' = 'come and get them' made me shoot watter out my nose when I saw these....

so my apologies in advance for putting this up... BUT... it is kind of cool...

Please don't put any ideas in Bplvr's head that this should be the norm for the Calguns Booth Coordinator to wear, ok? Lol...

I want to say "ditto" on those who have commented on wanting to buy women's cut shirts and not have to wear a dumpy size M or L men's cut shirt.

Also, please be mindful of logo placement on the front of a women's style shirt. To be blunt about it, having a text slogan or graphic right across the middle of the breasts is awkward - imprints should be aligned slightly above the mid-breast line.

Take the normal periodic table with hydrogen on the left, helium on the right, and add Hu (handgun) in the middle.

**EDIT**

Base table example:

This reminds me of the periodic table of ammunition, which I think is an awesome shirt but has unfortunately already been done (I won't hijack the thread by linking it, but it'll pop up on a Google Image Search.)

I like patterns that combine guns with being a bit obscure/nerdy, like the periodic table described above, or the build party shirts that have an AK bolt head on the front and an exploded parts diagram on the back, things like that (I just wish they came in baby doll more often... men's t-shirts make me look very dumpy/square )

I also really like Sajedene's crossed guns idea, due to its prettiness and the wings connotation.

H + He = Hu

Handgun: the other base element.

maybe this is just me, but just because you are wearing something with a gun on it does not automatically mean you own a gun...

if i see someone who wears something like that, i assume they have an interest, but don't assume to know more.

How about lower cut v-necks or scoop necks and longer shirts which can go below the hip bone...

I for one can't stand most t-shirts that are near my collar bone or turtle neck stuff...

I just found out that apparently this design randomly became popular... I had totally forgotten about this project.... but now that I'm reminded, I think I'm going to put some energy towards bringing forward some new designs.

I have a few ideas for new subtle designs that I'm going to start tinkering with....

How about the quote from The Blind Side

"I'm in a prayer group with the DA, I'm a member of the NRA and I'm always packing"

Id love a cute spaghetti strap tank top with a pic of an XD on it haha. I prefer black, but white is okay too. I am just very anti crew/vneck shirts when customized because it looks too cheesy. I would like the gun to be centered high or set diagonally on one upper corner or maybe even lower back. =)

Or maybe a pair of cotton shorts with a little handgun on the front of one leg....?

Or graphic on the sleeve instead of the middle of the chest? Why must it be right in the middle of the chest?
