This is why CGF has been so quiet. There is a mission now! Finally we can take it to them. Good work Gene and co.!

I'm very excited to be able to finally come out of the gates swinging.

Guys, in the wake of Heller we are going to have state level moping up to do. For the first time in 200 years we have the ability to do so.

You all know us, you know what we're capable of on our own, splintered. Now unified under one roof, get ready to see some MAJOR changes in CA!

Regarding this section of item #3:

"to help make Law Enforcement, DA's and Judges aware of ... the regulations around magazine fixing kits."(emphasis mine)

Why is this an issue? The BOF is not bringing this up, are they? I suggest letting sleeping dogs lie on this...

We use a confidential case review under privilege by internal or external counsel to make sure that the basic facts don't point to those sorts of color. We will allow some color if it is mundane - think traffic ticket. We have turned a few cases away for direct help but then we try to make sure that the gun issues are handled correctly by the defendants actual counsel.

Default I just donated $ and joined Calguns

Hi, I received an email from a friend that informed me about Calguns and this donation drive. I donated $10.00 so it can be matched. I am a California gun owner and will be donating and getting involved every chance I get. I just donated via paypal hahaha. Screw you paypal! Thank you Calguns! I'm really hoping that the lawsuit I read about(Calguns stating that the Gunlist is anti 2nd amendment) will get rid of the DOJ's stupid "handgun list". Thanks again, Flingdangle. BTW, I don't care if My donations are tax deductable as this is a worthy cause.

It would be highly educational to see some accounting numbers..... let's say once a quarter?
I just donated $100, (second time - first went to law firm directly, before you setup) and prepared to do quarterly, but no offense - I don't want to be the only one donating.

We're not a pass-thru for NRA if that's what you're worried about. CGF and NRA may someday co-sponsor a case, but that's about it.

Frankly, while most of us are NRA (life) members, myself included, many of us feel that NRA's hands are a little too tied by the inertia of the organization, and the political stigma. We admire their work and will take their calls, but we are SEPARATE organizations!

Think of NRA as the Infantry, and of CGF as some British Special Forces that agreed to help out. You never saw us, but suddenly there are a whole lot less bad guys to mop up.

Lastly, CGF has much less overhead than NRA, so more of your $ go straight to the causes.

I will end this by encouraging you to donate to both NRA and CGF (and generally not wasting your time with any other 'me too' 2a organization, with the exception of the Cato Institue.) *AND* to contribute regularly right here on calguns.net

Another unique aspect to CGF, you have ready access (both formally and informally) to the Chairman and most other Board Members right here on calguns.net.

See a hot button issue? Send a PM to me or gene or bill.

Keep those donations coming, though we are doing very well and have managed to raise over $10k in one night, right now we have more cases to assist with than we have $ with which do so.

Watch for more upcoming announcements on cases CGF is supporting. Lawyers already have the money, and the press releases are literally being drafted right now.

Thanks for your donation! $100 is great, even $10 helps a LOT!

As treasurer, I can tell you that eventually detailed and transparent accounting will happen, we need a bit more infrastructure (including our basic accounting system, some more volunteers versed in it, 501(c)3 legally in effect, etc.) first. These will take a few months, meanwhile Servicemen are being unjustly arrested on the 4th. (grrrrrr! that makes me mad, and when treasurer of CGF get mad, money gets spent on lawyers!

I like the idea of a "thermometer" to chart donations, maybe even separate ones for cal-guns

There'll be a big announcement (for the better!) in the 2A finance world in a few months, that will help change things.

If it helps, we raised over ten grand the first night we opened up to paypal donations.

Yes, that's $10,000USD in 24 hours.

When you donate to The Calguns Foundation, you're in good company!

Is there any time frame when we will know the non-profit status?

If I can get the tax deduction it frees up another 30-40% to make more donations.

My wife is not working right now so this is a sacrifice but...

Just sent $100.00 using PayPal.

It's a cause I believe in. Use it well (I'm sure you will).

Would rather support the USPS than PayPal when I can.

+1 I'm surprised that a pro-2A group would help support PayPal. I know that PP is widely used, etc. but it seems to me that telling people who want to use PayPal, "Look, PayPal is no friend of ours, we won't use them and neither should you, start using GearPay.com instead and support those who support us" would be a good idea. Putting ideology aside, it wouldn't surprise me if PayPal froze the account in response to a complaint that their system was being used for "gun-related activity"... it's a real risk, and AFAIK there's no recourse, as they aren't (at least last time I looked) a chartered bank.

Only certain gun/ammo related parts are not allowed and I think CGF withdraws the funds ASAP.

They won't, charitable contributions are a different story.

For now anyone who objects to supporting paypal's anti-gun organization, please just send a check or use online banking.

The goal behind paypal could be read to remove funds from existing calgunners' paypal balances so they can't make the money off the float
