Default Great Grandfathers 1911

I had the 1911 out of the safe to take some pictures, so I thought I'd post them while I was at it.....

My great grandfather, Harvey Edward Overesch started his Navy career in WW1, and ending after WW2 as a Vice Admiral. He spent time in China(where he received this pistol) between the wars, as Naval Attache in Shanghai and commanded the USS Cuyama. Later he went on the be Commandant of Midshipman at Annapolis from '42-'43. He commanded the USS San Francisco in '44-'45. At that time, the San Francisco was in battles at Kwajalein, Marianas and Gilbert/Marshall islands actions. After the war he worked in Tokyo doing some CIA stuff, then at the US Embassy in London.
